BOARD MEETING
The Library Board of the city of Wylie met in regular session on August 14, 2000
at the Library at 7:00 p.m. The attendees were:

1. Approval of the Minutes.
Minutes were approved as read from the July 10, 2000, meeting.
2. Discuss and Act Upon Approval of the Revised Circulation Policy.
The current policy is 2 weeks for all books and AV except videos which are
four days. Equipment checks out for three days. The patrons have had many
requests to change the policy back to the original policy. The Library Advisory
Board approved this change. All materials except for AV and equipment will
check out for three weeks and videos for seven days. Equipment will remain
at three days.
3. Discuss and Act Upon the Approval of Library Hours Changes.
The Library staff proposing changing Wednesday hours from 11 to 7 to 9 to 6
in order to meet patron demands for earlier morning hours. The Library Board
unanimously approved this change.
4. Discuss Monthly Reports and Summer Reading Club
Mignon reported that the circulation is down from August 1999. This is the
trend throughout the state. Summer Reading Club participation increased
12% over last year, and the Director's goal is to increase programs for next
year.
5. Discuss the Community Center Collection and Meals on Wheels Program.
The staff is cataloging some donations to leave at the Community Center as a
permanent collection. There will be a rotating collection to supplement that
collection. The collection will be operational and available on August 21.
The Meals on Wheels program is already in progress. It was scheduled to
start on August 21, but the Meals on Wheels participants have already started
requesting materials. The library staff is excited about this program and
looking forward to serving them.
6. Discuss Library Advocacy NETLS Workshop.
There are three board members going to the NETLS workshop on August 29.
Mignon volunteered to drive and it was agreed that we would meet at 7:45 at
the Library to go to the workshop together.
PRESENTATION
7. Presentation of Library Advisory board Orientation.
There was a presentation for a library board orientation for new board
members.
NEW BUSINESS
Councilman Eric Hogue has volunteered to adopt the Library as his project during his council
term. He is planning to have a book review in the Wylie News every month and do a clown
show at the Library monthly.
The City of Wylie and Wylie ISD did not receive the TIF grant.
