BOARD MEETING
The Library Board of the city of Wylie met in regular session on November 13, 2000
at the Library at 7:00 p.m. The attendees were:
Grace Morrison
Gerry Whitt
Dan Hendrix
Mary Starnes
Kathy Spillyards
Shirley Burnett
PRESENTATION
Mignon presented Grace Morrison an honorarium on behalf of the Friends of
the Library. This was a thank you for doing story time from August to October
when the Library didn't have a children's programming coordinator.
1. Approval of the Minutes.
Minutes were approved with one correction. Shirley Burnett's name needs to
be added to the list of attendees.
2. Discuss December Party Plans.
The Board agreed to have the party catered by Cammie Spillyards. The party
will be held at Gerry Whitt's house.
3. Discuss Monthly Report.
Circulation figures increased by 16%. The dog month programs were
successful and contributed to the circulation increase.
4. Discuss Decade of the 1990's report.
Board members commented that the statistics were interesting. Services
have increased significantly over the years while staffing has seen a minimal
increase.
5. Discuss Legislative Day Registration.
The deadline to register for Legislative Day is January 10. Several board
members expressed interest in going to Austin this year.
6. Discuss Children's Book Week Events.
The Elementary School Librarians will be entertaining Tuesday, November 14,
at 7:00 p.m. They will be reading from the book in the Junie B. Series. On
Thursday, November 16, we will have Ramblin Rose. She is a magician and
ventriloquist.
Winter Reading Club kicks off November 13 and will end February 27 with a
program featuring Mike Cruiciger.
