Minutes were approved as read from the October 10, 2001, meeting with one minor change. 2. Discuss Monthly report. October was a good month with a 14% increase in circulation and there were increases in other services too. Patrons enjoyed the dog month events. 3. Discuss Direct Aid Funding. The board discussed several ideas on how to spend Direct Aid Funds. Suggestions included doing programs for ESL, the Born to Read program, and purchasing the learn-a-test.com software. Another suggestion was to use these funds to promote the learn-a-test.com software with a mailer that could be mailed out to every home in Wylie. Mignon is going to check with the State Library to see if these ideas are permissible with the direct aid funds. The contract should be received by early 2002. At the time the contract is received, a budget will be submitted to the City Manager for approval. 4. Discuss Greeting Card Page. Mindy Allen, Friends President, gave Dan the authority to write the wording for the Greeting Card Page. Dan expressed that he wanted the assistance of the board in writing the page. He will be glad to do the design as promised. Mignon agreed to write a draft page and send it out by email to the board and friends for review. The Board agreed to use pictures on the page to brighten it. Dan's company, Fastline Publications, is doing the design and the Wylie News is donating the printing of the page. The Friends hope this will be a great year. 5. Discuss Christmas Party. Kathy Spillyards shared the menu choices with the board and they voted on their choices.
