Library Advisory Board
Monday, January 9, 2006

Grace Morrison, President, called the meeting to order.

Junaid Najamuddin, David James
Minutes were read and approved.
Library Board approved that we plan for December,2006 to have Library Board dinner at the
Woodbridge Country Club.
Rachel talked about the Bond program timeline. The Library and Fire Station will be the first
buildings to be constructed.
The Library Board decided that some of the members would attend the Council Meeting where the
bond is to be discussed. Others would e-mail Mayor and Council about the Bond as needed.
Rachel reported the following for the first quarter FY 2006: 8new computers; 3 additional from a
grant; 28,807 items checked out; 456 new borrowers; 1060 titles added; 2200 items deleted to clean
up the collection. Nineteen teenagers attended the Mystery Night Party. Rachel reviewed some of
the articles that have appeared in the"Neighbors"section of the Dallas Morning News. Rachel also
reported that a Children's Reference Collection,though it is small.
Rachel said that the Technology Policy needs to be completed by FY 2006. Rachel also said that the
Long Range Plan needs to be completed by Spring,2006.
Rachel also said that the Collection Development Policy would be reviewed this year as well in
regards to the Young Adult Collection and the DVD/Video Collections.
Reviewing the fine and fee structure is another project that will be completed by the end of FY2006.
