03-31-2016 (Public Arts Advisory) Minutes _tit Public Arts Advisory Board CITY OF WYLIE Minutes Special Called Meeting March 31, 2016 — 3:00 p.m. Wylie Municipal Complex Council Chambers/Conference Room 300 Country Club Road, Bldg. 100 CALL TO ORDER The Public Arts Advisory Board meeting was called to order at 6:03 p.m. by Chairman Lynn Grimes. Board members present included: Lynn Grimes, Michelle Pugh, Brooke Lopez, Lisa Green, and Nancy Peirce. Board members Margaret Boyd and Anita Jones were absent. Staff present included: Carole Ehrlich, board liaison. DISCUSSION ITEMS • Update and discussion regarding beginning processes for the 2016 CIP Thoroughfare Public Art Projects. (C. Ehrlich, PAAB Liaison-Board) Staff Comments PAAB Liaison Ehrlich addressed the board stating that the final Call for Artists has been posted on the CaFE' website and the Americans for the Arts website. Currently on submission has been received. REGULAR ITEMS Tabled Item from March 17, 2016 Board Action A motion was made by board member Pugh, seconded by board member Peirce to remove Item #1, Selection of the Public Art Selection Committee for the 2016 Thoroughfare Public Art projects from the table and consider. A vote was taken and the motion passed 5-0. 1. Consider and act upon members of the Public Art Selection Committee for the 2016 Thoroughfare Public Art Projects. (C. Ehrlich, PAAB Liaison) March 31,2016 Wylie Public Arts Advisory Special Called Meeting Minutes Page 12 Staff Comments PAAB Liaison Ehrlich addressed the Board stating that staff is requesting nominations and approval of a Public Art Thoroughfare Project Selection Committee to review applicants and the selection of 1-3 semi-finalists for each site or multiple sites. Possible members could include: landscape architects, professional artists, community members and leaders, and a member of the public art board. This gives a broader opinion of all art that is submitted and makes the process less subjective by all. The committee should consist of 5-7 members. Ehrlich reported that Margaret Robinette and City Manager Mindy Manson, citizen Shirlety Burnett, Shohn Rogers, Park supervisor, national artist John Pototschnik, former PAAB and Council member Kathy Spillyards, and PAAB chair Lynn Grimes have indicated they would serve if appointed. Board Action A motion was made by board member Lopez, seconded by board member Green to appoint the follow Selection Committee members: PAAB Chair Lynn Grimes, City Manager Mindy Manson, Parks Supervisor Shohn Rogers, retired Dallas Cultural Arts Administrator Margaret Robinette, artist John Pototschnik, former PAAB member Kathy Spillyards and citizen Shirley Burnett. A vote was taken and the motion passed 5-0 with board members Boyd and Jones absent. ADJOURNMENT With no further business before the board, a motion was made by board member Lopez, seconded by board member Green, to adjourn the meeting at 3:09 p.m. A vote was taken and the motion passed 5-0 with board members Boyd and Jones absent.
