Building Official Dale Jackson stated that electricians were currently
required to obtain a license in each city they worked in. Attempts to
institute a state licensing law have failed in the past. Local building
officials saw the problem with the current system and saw the need
in a more centralized licensing agency. The centralized licensing
agency would issue electrical licenses for all electricians in the North
Central Texas Region. The centralized licensing approach would
standardize licensing requirements and make it much easier for
electricians to work within the region.
After some discussion among the Board members, Jess Calhoun
made a motion of recommend to City Council that the City of Wylie
