Staff/Board Discussion It was imparted to the Board that emergency-response markers would be installed at Sage Creek 8 & 9, along with Muddy Creek Trail. The distance markers would consist of 4x4 recycled posts with signage (measuring approximately 4 feet tall) at$300 per post, with five at each location. Although the Board expressed concern over the expense of the markers, it was determined that they would be sturdier, therefore more vandal resistant. At this point, two citizens (Shirley Clarke and Eddie Rogers) representing the Wylie Youth Soccer Association spoke out regarding possible "soccer stations" at Founders Park for young children. The stations would consist of mini-goals and race courses and provide children between the ages of 3-5 years old with introductory soccer skills. This project would not be a complete City-funded endeavor, as the citizens intimated being able to secure sponsorships on their end. It was decided that the citizens would, upon further research, present staff with concrete ideas that could be considered and passed along to the Board and possibly to the architects. 4. Update on Founders Park Project and Recreation Center. Staff/Board Discussion Update on Founders Park included a staff meeting with architects, along with the irrigation design company. Further, staff awaits a lighting-installation quote for Founders Park and has another meeting scheduled Friday with architects. The Recreation Center update included a discussion of possible wallpaper and flooring; architects have taken this information and are working on the project further. ADJOURNMENT A motion was made by Board Member Benny Jones to adjourn and Board Member Frankie Delgado seconded; consensus of the Board was to adjourn. The Board adjourned at 7:31 pm. / '///'(/' (rm (//1( Anne Hineyy, airman ATTEST: Charlotte Rice, Park Board Secretary Minutes—May 19,2008 Wylie Parks and Recreation Board Page 2 of 2
