The Public Arts Advisory Board will take a short tour and review the final sculpture by John
Davis at the above location for discussion and possible action during the business portion of
this meeting.

DISCUSSION ITEMS
• Update regarding the 2016 Thoroughfare Public Art Projects. (C. Ehrlich,
PAAB Liaison)
Executive Summary
Staff will provide an update on the progress of artists Michael Szabo for Prairie Crossing.
• Discussion regarding the Municipal Complex Public Art and Trails
Dedication and the Lavon Disc Golf Park Art Dedication. (c. Ehrlich, PAAB
Liaison)
Executive Summary
Staff and the board will discuss dates for future dedications for the soon to be completed public art
projects on the Municipal Complex Trails and Lavon Disc Golf Park. Discussion will include plaques for
the three pieces of art and invitations to the event.
• Discussion regarding the 2018 Wylie Arts Festival Fees and Fundraisers.
Executive Summary
During the December 6, 2017 meeting, the board tabled discussion regarding vendor/food vendor fees
and auction fundraisers to gather more information regarding other event fees in the area. The board
will discuss and direct staff on the set fees for 2018.
BUSINESS ITEMS
1. Consider and act upon approval of the minutes from the December 6, 2017 Public
Arts Advisory Board Regular Meeting. (C. Ehrlich, PAAB staff liaison)
2. Consider and act upon approval of "Lift Off" installed by John Davis and
authorize the final payment of $7,800 to the artist.
Executive Summary
John Davis has installed "Lift Off" and all work has been completed. Wylie Building Inspections
Department has approved the piece and staff is asking for approval by the board and authorizing final
payment of $7,800 to the artist.
The board will make a trip to the art piece as part of the approval process during the meeting.

Special Called Meeting
December 6, 2017 — 6:00 p.m.

CALL TO ORDER
Chair Grimes called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. with the following PAAB members
present: Lynn Grimes, Michael Schwerin, and Anita Jones, Nancy Peirce, and Minerva
Bediako. Lisa Green and Brooke Lopez were absent.
Board liaison Carole Ehrlich, Assistant to the City Secretary Tina Link, and Public Information
Officer, Craig Kelly were also present.
DISCUSSION ITEMS
• Overview Discussion regarding the 2017 Wylie Arts Festival.
Executive Summary
Staff and board members discussed different portions of the event. Some of the items that were
discussed included going up on booth prices minimally, vendor accessibility to the events center
parking and determining a way to prevent vendors from parking in the customer parking. Also
discussed was the process for Art Donations from vendors and hours of the event changing to 9 am — 5
pm.
Further discussion on all the areas will be provided at the January 2018 board meeting.

Board Action
A motion was made by board member Jones, seconded by board member Bediako to approve the
PAAB minutes from November 16, 2017 as presented. A vote was taken and the motion passed 5-0
with board members Lopez and Green absent.
2. Consider and act upon approval of the Selection Committee for the Wylie Animal
Shelter. (C. Ehrlich, PAAB staff liaison)
Executive Summary
Staff presented the board with the nomination list of artists, community members, Animal Shelter
representatives and PAAB members wishing to serve on the selection committee. Each board member
that nominated someone gave a short bio on the nominee so everyone was familiar with the nominees.
The board discussed the nominees at length and made a determination they were ready for
consideration to cast a vote.
Names submitted included: Alexis Tapp, Cheryl Mabry, Kathryn "Lily" Courtney, Dana Ashley, Darlene
Blakey, Chris Funk, Gloria Suarez, Bobby Heath, Reverend Al Draper, Councilman David Dahl (Animal
Shelter Board Chair), City Manager Mindy Manson, Nancy Peirce and Anita Jones representing PAAB.
PAAB liaison Ehrlich asked the board to choose two artists, two community members, one PAAB
member, one Animal Shelter representative, and one staff member.
PAAB liaison Ehrlich reported the Call for Artist would be posted the week of December 11th and run
through January 22, 2018.
Board Action
A motion was made by board member Schwerin, seconded by board member Jones to appoint the
follow members to the Wylie Animal Shelter Art Selection Committee:

• Darlene Blakey, Artist
• Chris Funk, Community member
• Reverend Al Draper, Community member
• Animal Advisory Board Chair, David Dahl
• City Manager, Mindy Manson

A vote was taken and the motion passed 5-0 with board members Lopez and Green absent.
