required time frame. As a courtesy, the entire Agenda Packet has also been posted on the City of Wylie website:

The Chairman and Board request that all cell phones and pagers be turned off or set to vibrate. Members of the audience
are requested to step outside the Council Chambers to respond to a page or to conduct a phone conversation.

Executive Summary
Staff and the board will discuss the post 2017 WAF and make recommendations for any changes for
the 2018 event.
BUSINESS ITEMS
1. Consider and act upon approval of the minutes from the November 16, 2017
Public Arts Advisory Board Regular Meeting. (C. Ehrlich, PAAB staff liaison)
2. Consider and act upon approval of the Selection Committee for the Wylie Animal
Shelter. (C. Ehrlich, PAAB staff liaison)
Executive Summary
Staff has presented the Call for Artists for the Wylie Animal Shelter. This call includes the theme,
location of the art budget and timeline for artist's responsibilities and meetings of the selection panel.
Staff has requested each member to submit names for the selection committee that will jury the entries
on Café and make recommendations for the three semi-finalists for the project.
Names were submitted for artists, landscape architects, community members, one board member from
PAAB, and art coordinators. These nominees were contacted to insure they would be able to meet the
timeline in the Call for Artists.
Staff is recommending that the board choose these members in a formal action.

Regular Meeting

CALL TO ORDER
Chair Grimes called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. with the following PAAB members
present: Lynn Grimes, Michael Schwerin, Brooke Lopez, and Anita Jones. Lisa Green, Nancy
Peirce, and Minerva Bediako were absent.
Board liaison Carole Ehrlich was also present.
DISCUSSION ITEMS
• Update regarding the 2016 Thoroughfare Public Art Projects. (C. Ehrlich,
PAAB Liaison)
Executive Summary
Board liaison Ehrlich reported that Artist Michael Szabo has indicated he may have another delay in the
installation of Prairie Crossing. Staff has not received an official scheduling but will update the board
once received.
John Davis is in the process of constructing the base for "Lift Off". Installation should be later this year.
• Discussion regarding the Wylie Arts Festival and board activities.
Executive Summary
PAAB liaison Ehrlich reminded members that the scheduling for the event would be as noted below.
She asked for any changes to the letters that go out to vendors. Minor changes were suggested by the
board. Chair Grimes asked that sticky notes be available for board members to use for cars at the
unloading site to determine booth numbers in case the vehicles are not moved as required.
Brooke Lopez reported she had obtained 10 ROTC members for both scheduling times as volunteers to
assist vendors. Chair Grimes reminded those assisting with booth marking to be at the event center by
9:30 am on Friday December 1.

All members are required to attend and work their specific times and solicit for volunteers. If a member
is unable to attend, the board member is responsible for providing two volunteers to work their
schedule.

BUSINESS ITEMS
1. Consider, and act upon, approval of the minutes from the October 19, 2017 Public
Arts Advisory Board Regular Meeting. (C. Ehrlich, PAAB staff liaison)
Board Action
A motion was made by board member Jones, seconded by board member Schwerin to approve the
PAAB minutes from October 19, 2017. A vote was taken and the motion passed 4-0 with board
members Green, Peirce, and Bediako absent.
2. Consider, and act upon, approval of a "Call for Artists" for the Wylie Animal
Shelter. (C. Ehrlich, PAAB staff liaison)
Executive Summary
PAAB liaison Ehrlich addressed the board stating that staff has prepared a call for artists for the next
public art project. The Wylie Animal Shelter was approved for 2018 by PAAB members. This call will
provide the location, theme, budget, and submission information for artists wishing to apply. It will be
through Café and be electronic for artist's submissions and viewing by the Selection Committee.
Ehrlich asked if the board wished to charge an entry fee for artists. She explained that sometimes
organizations do and sometimes they do not. Board members discussed fees for a small call. Board
member Lopez suggested a small entry fee of$15.00.
Staff is requesting that members contact persons they believe would be beneficial to the selection
committee. Some of the categories for committee members include: artists or landscape architects,
citizens of Wylie, a member from the Animal Shelter Advisory Board and Public Art Board, and art
administrators.
This selection committee will be approved at a special called meeting in December.
Board Action
A motion was made by board member Lopez, seconded by board member Jones to approve a "Call for
Artists" for the Wylie Animal Shelter in the amount of $37,000 and use Café to publish the call in the
amount of$525. Additionally charge each artist an entry fee of$15.00 each. A vote was taken and the
motion passed 4-0 with board members Green, Bediako, and Peirce absent.

ADJOURNMENT
Board Action
A motion was made by board member Jones, seconded by board member Schwerin to adjourn the
meeting at 6:37 p.m. A vote was taken and the motion passed 4-0 with board members Green, Peirce,
and Bediako absent.
