CALL TO ORDER
The Public Arts Advisory Board meeting was called to order at 6:04 p.m. by Chair Lynn Grimes. Board
members present included: Michael Schwerin, Anita Jones, Lisa Green, Minerva Bediako, and Nancy
Peirce. Board member Brooke Lopez was absent.
Staff present included: Carole Ehrlich, Public Art Coordinator.
DISCUSSION ITEMS
• Update regarding the 2016 Thoroughfare Public Art Projects. (C. Ehrlich, PAAB
Liaison)
Staff Comments
Art Board Coordinator Ehrlich reported the first pour for the base of Prairie Crossing had taken place on
Saturday, January 20th. She explained there would be three pours. The next pour would be for the fifty foot
seating area which was expected in early March. The final pour would be for an extension of the sidewalk
between the parking area and the sculpture. She advised the City Engineer would be on site for all pours
and would report any issues.
Ehrlich noted the final date for completion of the installation and final inspection would be the end of March.
Ehrlich explained that Michael Szabo had extended the date in order to complete some complex portions of
the ribbons that run across the top of the sculpture.
• Discussion regarding the Municipal Complex Public Art and Trails Dedication
and the Lavon Disc Golf Park Art Dedication. (c. Ehrlich, PAAB Liaison)
Board and Staff Discussion
Board liaison Ehrlich reported that the Parks department had been contacted to see when a good time

would be to schedule the dedication for the two pieces at City Hall and also the sculpture at Lavon Park.
She noted staff wished to have time to allow the weather to warm up and plants and other materials to b
installed prior to any dedications. The confirmed date for both" Lift Off "located at Lavon Park and Entwin
and Prairie Crossing, located on the Municipal Trails would be the morning of June 2'
Both artists have been contacted and agree with the dedication date and will be in attendance.
Ehrlich asked for direction to order the plaques for Entwine and Prairie Crossing at an estimated cost of
around $350. To $450 each. The board gave direction to order the plaques and to obtain plaque designs
from artist John Davis for his art piece. Ehrlich noted she would.
• Update regarding the Animal Shelter Public Art Project.
Board Coordinator Ehrlich reported the Selection Committee for the Animal Shelter had chosen three semi-
finalists for the project. They include Robert Barnum from Michigan, Don Kennel) from Santa Fe NM, and
James Barnes from Santa Fe NM.
The artists will attend a Community Input meeting on March 22, 2018 at 6:00 pm in the Council Chambers
to hear from the public and other interested parties about what they would like to see in the proposals for
art at the Wylie Animal Shelter. Ehrlich asked board members to attend this important meeting to hear from
the public and meet the artists.
BUSINESS ITEMS
1. Consider and act upon approval of the minutes from the January 18, 2018, Public
Arts Advisory Board Special Called Meeting. (C. Ehrlich, PAAB staff liaison)
Board Action
A motion was made by board member Peirce, seconded by board member Schwerin to approve the
minutes of the Public Arts Advisory Board Special Called Meeting of December 6, 2017 as presented. A
vote was taken and the motion passed 6-0 with board member Bediako absent.
Board Action
A motion was made by board member Jones, seconded ,by board member Schwerin to approve the
February 18, 2018 Public Arts Advisory Board minutes as presented. A vote was taken and the motion
passed 6-0 with board member Lopez absent.

ADJOURNMENT
Board Action
A motion was made by board member Jones, seconded by board member Schwerin to adjourn the
meeting at 6:18 p.m. A vote was taken and the motion passed 6-0 with board member Lopez absent.
