DISCUSSION ITEMS
Library Emergency Plan: Rachel has sent the plan to the City Attorney for review with focus on the
"special needs" section. Rachel has also requested to review the Rec Center's Emergency Plan. They are
currently working to finalize their plan into one document; and she will check back on their progress.
Rachel has also reached out to the Police Chief, who will review and provide input on the best way to
handle threats by phone.
Library Board Members reviewed and discussed the Plan. The following changes/additions were
proposed:
• Under Evacuating the Building: due to proximity, the Circulation Workroom/Librarian's Offices
and Conference Room will be evacuated by Technical Services/Admin and the Circulation Staff
will evacuate the Multipurpose Room and lobby/public restrooms.
• Periodic evacuation drills need to be included. Rachel will check with Fire/Rescue or Risk
Management to see if a certain number of drills are required.
• Procedures will be added for accounting for and de-briefing Library staff after an evacuation.
