Ehrlich Account Code: Date Prepared: June 20, 2018 Budgeted Amount: $1,000 Exhibits: 3 Subject Review of questions from artist Robert Barnum (C. Ehrlich, Public Art Coordinator) Recommendation Discussion The final artist, Robert Barnum is revising his design for RESCUED. He has a few questions he is rquesting direction for. 1. Will the wording be two sided to allow viewers to view the words correctly from both sides of the sculpture? 2. Is the redrawing of the girl sufficient to show delight in her adopted pet? 3. Choice of wording for The Bond, To Bond, Bond Hope, A Bond Staff is requesting direction regarding the questions above so the artist may continue to create his final design for presentation to the City Council. Page 1 Carole, another note or word I would like you to brainstorm with your committee this week.To be valid in my agenda to allow or create community ownership in the creative process of building the RESCUED Animal shelter sculpture these sculptures cut or relief words stand as important. This design on this sculpture suggests a distance read priority for the figure body cut or relief words. To be read walking or in a car at some distance a single word works best in each body or leg plate. The word/math formula we have talked about on the corten monolithic base form ANIMAL+HUMAN=RESCUED is a subtle discovery close up read The one word I am struggling with to be a good long distance read is Bond or Bonded. This word Bond or the bond between person ETC came up often in different forms from committee voices to the public response. The problem is in single term use Bond takes on a different meaning. Bond is a financial term and bonded is a legal or certification term. So I am thinking about a two-word combination.
