Update regarding the Animal Shelter Public Art Project. (C. Ehrlich, Public Art Coordinator) Staff/Board Comments Public Arts Coordinator Ehrlich updated the board regarding the Animal Shelter Public Art Project. She reported she had been in contact with artist Robert Barnum and had sent the draft contract to commission the art piece to the City Attorney for review. She reported the presentation to City Council would take place at the August 14, 2018 Council meeting. She asked the board for direction regarding the aluminum relief printing on the sculptures and whether the wording needed to be double sided to read from the front and back or one sided-single metal as presented originally by the artist. Direction from the board was to leave the wording single sided as was presented in the original proposal. Ehrlich asked what wording the board wished to use for "Bond". The board gave direction to use "Bonding" as the wording. Ehrlich also asked about the sculpture of the little girl and the revisions made to the sculpture. The board gave direction that the smile of delight in holding the dog was more apparent but a notch under the nose and above the lips should be removed. Ehrlich reported she would take the changes back to the artist to be included in the new maquette he would use for the Council presentation. • Update and final plans regarding the Bluegrass on Ballard set for June 30, 2018.
