Update regarding the 2018 Wylie Arts Festival. (C. Ehrlich, Public Arts Coordinator) • Discussion regarding additional fund raiser events for 2018. (C. Ehrlich, Public Art s Coordinator) Executive Summary Staff and the board will discuss possible additional events to raise money for the Public Art Fund. BUSINESS ITEMS 1. Consider, and act upon, approval of the minutes from the July 26, 2018 Public Arts Advisory Board Regular Meeting. (C. Ehrlich, Public Art Coordinator) 2. Consider and act upon the appointment of a three board members to sit on the 2018 Wylie Arts Festival Vendor approval committee. (C. Ehrlich, Public Art Coordinator) Executive Summary Each year the board nominates volunteers to serve on the WAF vendor selection committee to review applicants for the Wylie Arts Festival. Staff is requesting that three members be chosen to serve in the capacity. The reviews will be prior to or following PAAB monthly meetings and during the work day in some cases. Volunteers should be able to attend the reviews. Stephanie Storm,City Secretary Date Notice Removed 7 Public Arts Advisory Board CITY OF WY LIE. ---4 Minutes Regular Meeting July 26, 2018 — 6:00 p.m. Wylie Municipal Complex Council Chambers/Conference Room 300 Country Club Road, Bldg. 100 CALL TO ORDER The Public Arts Advisory Board meeting was called to order at 6:05 p.m. by Secretary/Public Arts Coordinator Carole Ehrlich. Board members present included: Michael Schwerin, Nancy Peirce, Minerva Bediako, (new members) Ross Grant, Lily Courtney, and Marjorie Bennett. Staff present was Carole Ehrlich, Public Art Coordinator. DISCUSSION ITEMS . Update regarding the Animal Shelter Public Art Project. (C. Ehrlich, Public Arts Coordinator) Staff/Board Comments Public Arts Coordinator Ehrlich reported she had been working on the contract to commission artist Robert Barnum for the Animal Shelter project. She explained the contract had been reviewed by the City Attorney's Office and by the artist and all were approved as to form and content. Ehrlich reminded the board that the artist would be presenting his new maquette and brochure to the Wylie City Council for final approval on August 14th. She explained that two items in the packet were for board review. The cat design was provided to show what the new maquette cat will look like, also the wording on the new maquette will be one sided as directed by the board. Direction from the board was to move forward with the changes. Ehrlich asked that all members be present on August 14th at 6 pm for the presentation. • Overview of the Bluegrass on Ballard Event, held for June 30, 2018. (C. Ehrlich, Public Art s Coordinator) July 26, 2018 Wylie Public Arts Advisory Board Meeting Minutes P d g e 12 Staff./Board Comments Ehrlich reported that the revenue from the 2018 Bluegrass on Ballard was just over S15,000. She explained this was S3,000 more than last year. The board commented they thought the vendor set up went much easier this year than in past years and requested the same three set up areas be used next year. Board member Jones asked that the audio system be increased so that the audience could hear the bands more clearly. She stated that more funding should be used for audio to achieve a better sound from the bands. The board overall was very pleased with the event and had no changes for next year. BUSINESS ITEMS 1. Consider and act upon the appointment of a new Chair for the Public Arts Advisory Board for a term beginning July 27, 2018 and ending June 30, 2019. (C. Ehrlich, Public Arts Coordinator) Staff Comments Public Arts Coordinator Ehrlich addressed the board stating that each July, per the bi-laws the board is required to elect a new board chair. She stated that because June was the last meeting for the sitting chair, she had conducted this portion of the meeting. She asked the board to nominate and vote on a new chairperson to serve from July 26th thru June 30, 2018. Board Action A motion was made by board member Peirce, seconded by board member Courtney to elect Michael Schwerin as the new Pubic Arts Advisory Board Chair to serve from July 26, 2018 to June 30, 2019. A vote was taken and the motion passed 7-0. 2. Consider and act upon the appointment of a new Vice Chair for the Public Arts Advisory Board for a term beginning July 27, 2018 and ending June 30, 2019. (C. Ehrlich, Public Arts Coordinator) Staff Comments Public Arts Coordinator Ehrlich addressed the board stating that each July, per the bi-laws the board is required to elect a new board vice chair. She reported the vice chair would conduct meetings in the absence of the chair and attend public events. She asked the board to nominate and vote on a new vice chairperson to serve from July 26th thru June 30, 2018. Board Action A motion was made by board member Jones, seconded by board member Schwerin to elect Nancy Peirce as the new Pubic Arts Advisory Board Vice Chair to serve from July 26, 2018 to July 26,2018 Wylie Public Arts Advisory Board Meeting Minutes Page 13 June 30, 2019. A vote was taken and the motion passed 7-0. 3. Consider, and act upon, approval of the minutes from the June 21, 2018 Public Arts Advisory Board Regular Meeting. (C. Ehrlich, Pubic Art Coordinator) Chair Schwerin asked the board to review and entertain a motion to approve the minutes from June 21, 2018. Board Action A motion was made by board member Peirce, seconded by board member Bediako to approve the Public Arts Advisory Board minutes from June 21, 2018 as presented. A vote was taken and the motion passed 7-0.
