Some of the ideas communicated by the board members included a high/junior high school band competition in the spring with entry fees for student bands from the regional area and arts and craft vendors. A junior high pageant with a scholarship award for the winning contestant. This would include asking organizations to donate the scholarship to be awarded. Additionally inviting dance studios to compete with the bands or separately at another event. Board members asked to continue discussion and post on the next regular meeting agenda so the full board could be present to discuss possible options for an event. Ehrlich reported Public Information Officer Craig Kelly could not attend the meeting but had sent an e-mail in favor of bringing the Jazz Arts event back perhaps in the 2019-2020 budget year. This event would be open to all arts and craft vendors and would feature high school and junior high bands with a professional band in the evening.
