Resolution 2019-20RESOLUTION NO. 2019-20(R) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WYLIE, TEXAS, RECOGNIZING THE DESIGNATION OF PLACES AND AREAS AS HISTORICALLY, CULTURALLY AND/OR ARCHITECTURALLY IMPORTANT AND SIGNIFICANT THROUGH THE ADOPTION OF PLANNED DEVELOPMENT DISTRICTS, OVERLAY DISTRICTS, AND SPECIFIC USE PERMITS BEFORE APRIL 1, 2019; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Wylie, Texas ("City Council") has found that it is in the best interests of the City of Wylie, Texas ("Wylie") and its citizens to regulate building products and materials and aesthetic methods in the construction, renovation, maintenance and alteration of residential and commercial buildings; and WHEREAS, the City Council has found that such regulations are in furtherance of the health, safety, morals, property values and general welfare of the Wylie community and the safe, orderly and healthful development of Wylie; and WHEREAS, from time to time the City Council has designated certain places and areas as historically, culturally and/or architecturally important and significant to the Wylie community through, among other things, the adoption of planned development districts, zoning overlay districts, and specific use permits that by their nature recognize each of the subject place or area's unique or distinctive character and importance to the Wylie community; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to recognize and reaffirm the importance and significance of each such place or area by the adoption of this Resolution, preserving Wylie's authority to regulate building products and materials and aesthetic methods in the construction, renovation, maintenance and alteration of all residential and commercial buildings in such areas. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WYLIE, TEXAS: SECTION 1: The findings set forth above are incorporated into the body of this Resolution as if fully set forth herein. The City Council hereby declares that it would have passed this Resolution, and each section, subsection, clause or phrase thereof, regardless of whether any one or more sections, subsections, sentences, clauses or phrases is declared unconstitutional and/or invalid.
