Brad Boozer called to order the Animal Shelter Advisory Board meeting at 6:01 pm. Board members present: Shelia Patton, David Dahl, Brad Boozer, Dr. Brad Abraham and Amber Porter. Quorum is present. Staff Liaison Mike Atkison is present. INVOCATION The invocation was given by David Dahl. CITIZENS COMMENTS ON NON-AGENDA ITEMS Residents may address Council regarding an item that is not listed on the Agenda. (Brad Boozer, ASAB Chair) Board Action A motion was made by Brad Boozer to accept the Animal Shelter Advisory Board minutes of October February 13, 2019 as presented. DISCUSSION ITEMS • Discussion regarding shelter events and status first quarter. (S. Patton, ASAB Board Member) Shelia Patton reports six sterilization transports for public access from Wylie Animal Control for residents to low cost animal care provider. Three low cost vaccination clinics held at the City of Wylie Animal Control during evening hours to provide residents access to low cost vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative medication. Residents can comply with registration of pets as two staff members as well as veterinarian and vet assistant are on site. Nine animals have been placed into foster care program. Volunteers and service workers have logged 216.5 hours. Pet of the week twice monthly with Wylie News is ongoing. Fourty four animals received services through the pre-adoption sterilization program. Staff have completed six tours pre- established. Shelia Patton reports through the Chameleon Software animals are now being posted to multiple social media applications. The software utilizing approved data from the staff entered into the software program does this automatically. Petfinder, PetHarbour and Adopt A Pet are the most performing applications. This assists staff members by allowing direct communication from potential adopters without having to maintain or reply to other applications such as Facebook. Examples of posted animals to website applications were shown to board. Patton reports city registrations are now much more inclusive and descriptive. The software allows photos to be attached to registrations as well as microchip data. Examples of before software and after software registrations were shown to board. Patton reports first stage of emergency preparedness has been launched. Staff members include in waterproof bag a copy of registration with color photo of animal, copy of rabies certificate and disaster preparedness pamphlet for pets and owners. Pet owners are encouraged to keep this separate packet attached to animals kennel for evacuation purposes or to keep information with household important vital statistic paperwork. Examples of packet were shown to board. Patton advised that the budget request of kennel doors will be requested for the upcoming fiscal year.
