Ordinance 1970-11 ORDINANCE NO.1b-11 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF WYLIE, TEXAS, REQUIRING STREET NUMBERS TO BE PLACED UPON ALL BUILDINGS "IN THE CITY; PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY NOT TO EXCEED TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS ($200.00) FOR EACH OFFENSE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WYLIE, TEXAS: SECTION 1. All buildings fronting on any street or alley in the city shall be numbered in some conspicuous place by the owner or occupant thereof according to the Map made by the City for such purpose and on file in the office of the City Secretary. All odd numbers shall be on one side of the street and all even numbers on the other. SECTION 2. All persons or occupants of such buildings shall first apply to the City Manager for the proper number and any such person or occupant failing or refusing to put the proper number on any such building or putting up the wrong number thereon shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction in the corporation court shall be subject to a fine not to exceed Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) for each offense, and each and every day any such violation shall continue shall be deemed to constitute a separate offense. SECTION 3. The fact that such buildings are not pres- ently numbered in the City of Wylie and it is necessary to do so in order to comply with a request from the United States Post Office Department creates an urgency and an emergency and in the preservation of public health, safety and welfare requires that this ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after its passage and the publication of the caption, as the law in such cases provides.
