Ordinance 1979-074 - -. • ORDINANCE NO. 79 -7 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR A REDUCTION CREDIT ON WATER AND SEWER UTILITY SERVICES PROVIDED BY THE CITY OF WYLIE; ESTAB- LISHING THE ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS; PROVIDING THAT THE DUR- ATION OF PERIOD OF ORDINANCE SHALL NOT EXCEED THREE YEARS; PROVIDING FOR PENALTY. WHEREAS, the City heretofore adopted Ordinance #79 -5 estab- lishing the rate to be charged for water and sewer service to the consumers of the City of Wylie; and, WHEREAS, the City deems it necessary to provide relief to the consumers over 65 years of age on a fixed low retirement income. IT IS THEREFORE, ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WYLIE, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION I. Consumers of water and sewer services who are sixty -five (65) years of age or older on fixed Social, Security or other retirement income and who have no other source of income whose total pensions amount to less than $3,600 /year income as a single person or $4,800 /year income as a couple are eligible to apply for a monthly fixed credit. SECTION II. The amount of credit for single persons eligible shall be $3.00 /month. The amount of credit for a couple eligible shall be $4.00/ month. SECTION III. All eligible consumers shall make application to the City Secretary for such credit by making a statement that their income is within the guideline set forth in this ordinance and identify their account numbers on an application form provided by the City. The applicable credit will be issued upon completion of the application and will appear on the utility bill issued next after approval of the application. 1 SECTION IV. The duration time of this ordinance shall not exceed a period of three years from the effective date of passage unless extended by ordinance by the City Council. SECTION V. Any person violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined-in any sum not to exceed Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00).
