ORDINANCE # 79-28
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE # 75-1,
PROHIBITING DOGS FROM RUNNING AT LARGE,
AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WYLIE, TEXAS:
SECTION 5 of Ordinance #75-1 is amended to read;
SECTION5: PROHIBITING DOGS FROM RUNNING AT LARGE.
It shall be unlawful for the owner or harborer of any dog to
permit such dog to run at large within the corporate limits of the
city; whether or not such dog is licensed according to this Ordinance.
a. IMPOUNDING: The City Manager shall appoint a Dog Catcher
and fix a salary therefore, and may appoint an assistant or assistants
as it is deemed necessary. The Dog Catcher and his assistant or assis-
tants shall be under the supervision and control of the Police Chief.
It shall be the duty of the Dog Catcher to carry out the terms of the
Ordinance.
It shall be the duty of the Dog Catcher to apprehend any dog and/
or cat found running at large contrary to the provisions of this ordin-
ance and to impound such dog and/or cat in the city pound or other
suitable place. He shall make registry on each dog and/or cat impounded
entering the breed, color and sex of such dog and/or cat and whether
licensed. If licensed, he shall enter the name and address of the owner
and the number of the license tag.
This ordinance shall be effective on and after December 11, 1979.
