AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE #78-17 PRESCRIBING REGULATIONS FOR SPEEDS
OF MOTOR VEHICLES THROUGH AND ALONG SOUTH THOMAS STREET FROM STONE SOUTH
TO THE ENTRANCE TO WYLIE COMMUNITY PARK; AND WITHIN WYLIE COMMUNITY PARK;
PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY FOR VIOLATION, CONTAINING A SEVERANCE CLAUSE; AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WYLIE, TEXAS:
Section 1. That this ordinance be added to as an amendment of
Ordinance #78-17 as follows: "In accordance with Article 5, Section 2a of
Ordinance #78-17 the speed limit for motor vehicles operating on South
Thomas Street is hereby established as twenty miles per hour (20 m.p.h.)
from Stone Road south to the entrance to Wylie Community Park.
Section 2. That the speed limit of motor vehicles within Wylie
Community Park be established as fifteen miles per hour (15 m.p.h.)
maximum. "
Section 3. Any person violating any of the provisions of this
Ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and, upon conviction,
shall be subject to a fine of not more than two hundred dollars ($200.00).
Each transaction in violation of any of the provisions hereof shall be
deemed a separate offense.
Section 4. If any section, paragraph, sentence, clause, or phrase
of this Ordinance is found to be invalid by a court of conpetent juris-
diction, it is hereby declared to be the intention of the City Council that
these sections be considered separate and severable, and that the judgement
of such court would not affect the remaining phrases, clauses, sentences,
paragraphs, or sections of this Ordinance.
Section 5. The fact that there are no adequate controls creates a
hazard and endangers the health and safety of the people of the City of
Wylie, and it is hereby declared to be an emergency and that this Ordinance
shall take effect immediately upon final passage thereof and the publica-
tion of the caption hereof.
