ORDINANCE 84- 13
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF WYLIE, TEXAS PROVIDING FOR THE
ESTABLISHMENT OF A STIPEND COMPENSATION TO ELECTED OFFICIALS
OF THE GOVERNING BODY TO DEFRAY THE INDIRECT EXPENSES OF
HOLDING PUBLIC OFFICE; PROVIDING A PENALTY CLAUSE, A
SEVERABILITY CLAUSE AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
Whereas, the City Council of the City of Wylie has determined
the need to provide a limited stipend/compensation to its
membership to defray the cost of indirect expenses associated
with holding public office; now
Therefore, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of
Wylie, Texas that;
The following payments are hereby adopted by the City Council
of the City of Wylie, Texas. ;
SECTION 1 - LIMITED COMPENSATION FOR MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF
CITY COUNCIL
A. Each member of the governing body shall receive
monthly payments in the following amounts in order
to defray the indirect expenses associated with
general office holding in the City of Wylie. Such
payments shall be made for each month in which the
elected official actually holds office and shall be
according to the following rates:
Mayor....................$150.00 per month
Council Members..........$100.00 per month

Vehicle Allowance - Each member of
body shall be compensated in the

Council Members...................$25.00 per month
C. In addition to the above payments, council members
are entitled to submit any vouchers and receipts for
direct expenses associated with the duties of their
office for reimbursement by the City.
SECTION 2 - PENALTY
Any person, firm, corporation or other entity who is found
guilty of violating the terms of this ordinance shall be
deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction of any
such violation, shall be subject to a fine of not less than
$1.00 nor more than $200.00.
SECTION 3 - SEVERABILITY
All ordinances or parts of the ordinance in conflict herewith
are specifically repealed and are superceded by this
ordinance. All other parts of such ordinances are not
repealed.
It is hereby declared to be the intention of the City Council
that the sections, paragraphs, sentences, clauses, and phrases
of this ordinance are severable and if any phrase, clause,
sentence or section of this ordinance shall be declared
unconstitutional or invalid by any judgement or decree of a
court of competent jurisdiction, such unconstitutionality or
invalidity shall not affect any other remaining phrase,
clause, sentence, paragraph or section of this ordinance; and
the City Council hereby declares it would have passed the

remaining portions even though it had known the affected parts
would be held unconstitutional.
SECTION 4 - EFFECTIVE DATE
This ordinance and its amendments and the fees which it amends
shall become effective on the first day of April, 1984.
