In accordance with Section 551.042 of the Texas Government Code, this agenda has been posted at the Wylie Municipal Complex, distributed to the
appropriate news media,and posted on the City website: www.wvlietexas.gov within the required time frame.
The Chairman and Board request that all cell phones and pagers be turned off or set to vibrate. Members of the audience are requested to step outside the
Conference Room to respond to a page or to conduct a phone conversation.
The Smith Public Library is wheelchair accessible. Sign interpretation or other special assistance for disabled attendees must be requested 48 hours in
advance by contacting the City Secretary's Office at 972-516-6020.

CALL TO ORDER
Announce the presence of a Quorum.
Board Chair, Janice Borland called the meeting to order at 7:01pm. The following Library Board
members were present: Juan M. Azcarate III, Arthur Borgemenke, Janice Borland, Kenneth Cash, Carla
McCullough, &Rachel Orozco, Board Liaison. Members absent: Rosalynn Davis and Jesse Meason.

ACTION ITEMS
1. Consider and act upon approval of the Minutes of the November 11, 2019 Library Board
Meeting.
Board Action:
The Library Board Minutes of Monday, November 11, 2019 were unanimously approved as
presented.
REGULAR AGENDA—DISCUSSION ITEMS
1. Review new Boards and Commissions Guidelines: Rachel passed out copies of Ordinance No.
2020-XX of the City of Wylie, which implemented an amendment that sets term limits for
Library Board Members. The Board reviewed and discussed the details of the Ordinance.
2. Consider and act upon approval of the Borrower's Policy: The Board discussed some
additional minor grammatical changes to the policy. Rachel advised that since the library will
soon be getting new Self Check kiosks and software, it would be good to table approval, as this
will bring additional changes to the Borrower Policy. The item was tabled until the additions from
the new Self Check can be discussed and included in the policy update.

Children
MLK Day Scavenger Hunt: January 20- 25
Find the images hidden in the Children's section to win a prize. One prize per child per day while supplies
last. This is a self-directed activity.
Kids Winter Reading Challenge: December 16—March 14
For kids in Kindergarten—5th grade. Pick up a log at the Children's Desk and complete the reading
challenge for a prize.
Teens
Japanimation Club: January 16 from 6:00-7:OOpm
For 6th through 12th graders only. Come celebrate all things Japan, watch some anime and enjoy some
snacks. No registration necessary. In the Storytime Room.
Teen Winter Reading Challenge: December 16—March 14
For 6`h-12`h graders only. Teens may pick four different reading "options" from twelve different choices.
Once they have completed four, they can turn their winter reading challenge in for a prize at the Teen
Reference Desk.
ADULT
Genealogy Club: Thursday,January 16 at 6:00pm
Share and learn tips, tricks and advise with fellow genealogists and family historians. The group meets
bimonthly on the third Thursday.

Winter Reading Challenge: December 16—March 14
The weather outside is frightful but books are so delightful! Read or listen to three books and record their
titles to complete a log for prizes!
