Ordinance 1996-20 ORDINANCE NO. q(p-d).O AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WYLIE, TEXAS, CANVASSING THE ELECTION RETURNS OF THE GENERAL ELECTION OF MAY 4, 1996 FOR THE ELECTION OF MAYOR; THREE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL (PLACE 2, 4 AND 6) FOR A TERM OF TWO YEARS; AND DECLARING THE RESULTS. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Wylie, Texas (City) held a General Election on May 4, 1996, for the purpose of electing the Mayor; three members of Council (Place 2, 4 and 6) for two year terms; and WHEREAS, the City Council met on May 10, 1996, and canvassed the election returns of the above-mentioned election; and WHEREAS, it was found that the person herein named received the following votes for said term of office on the City Council of the City of Wylie, Texas: MAYOR Jim Swartz 385 CITY COUNCIL, PLACE 2 Reta Allen 388 1 CITY COUNCIL, PLACE 4 Wanda Sparks 335 A. L. Bud Naish 203 CITY COUNCIL, PLACE 6 Cleo Adams 394 NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WYLIE, TEXAS: SECTION 1: Jim Swartz is declared to be elected Mayor of the City of Wylie, Texas. SECTION 2: Reta Allen is declared to be elected Council Member Place No.2. SECTION 3: Wanda Sparks is declared to be elected Council Member Place No.4. SECTION 4: Cleo Adams is declared to be elected Council Member Place No.6. SECTION 5: The City Council hereby finds and determines, as a result of this Canvass, that a total of 123 early voters and 446 voted as indicated by the poll list for the General Election held on May 4, 1996. SECTION 6: This Ordinance will become effective after its passage and publication as required by law and by Wylie's City Charter. 2 PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WYLIE, TEXAS on this 10th day of May, 1996. !
