BEING AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF WYLIE A HOME RULE
POLITICAL SUBDIVISION OF THE STATE OF TEXAS ADOPTING THE
UNIFORM HOUSING CODE 1988 EDITION PROVIDING SEVERABILITY
CLAUSE, PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE
NOT TO EXCEED THE SUM OF FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($500.00) FOR
EACH OFFENSE; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WYLIE,
COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS THAT

The "Uniform Housing Code" 1988 Edition as
published by the International Conference of
Building Officials, one (1) copy of which is
on file in the City Secretaries office is
hereby referred to, adopted and made a part
hereof as if fully set out in this ordinance.
That the following addition and amendment to
the Uniform Housing Code 1988 Edition is
hereby approved: in chapter 10 section 1001
(a) General an addition to be numbered (a2)
and to be read as follows;
(a2)
No person shall occupy as owner-occupant
or let or sublet to another for
occupancy any dwelling or dwelling unit
designed or intended to be used for the
purpose of living, sleeping, cooking, or
eating therein, nor shall any vacant
dwelling building be permitted to exist
which has been declared substandard by
the Building Official.
REPEALING CLAUSE - That all ordinances of the
City in conflict with the provisions of this
ordinance be, and the same are hereby,
repealed and all other ordinances of the City
not in conflict with the provisions of this
ordinance shall remain in full force and
effect..
SEVERABILITY CLAUSE - Should any paragraph,
sentence, subdivision, clause, phrase or
section of this ordinance be adjudged or held
to be unconstitutional, illegal or invalid,
the same shall not affect the validity of
this ordinance as whole or any part or
provision thereof other than the part so
decided to be invalid, illegal or
unconstitutional and shall not affect the
validity of the remaining portions of this
ordinance..
PENALTY - Any person firm or corporation
violating any of the provisions or terms of
this ordinance shall be subject to a fine not
to exceed the sum of Five Hundred ($500.00)
for each offense, and each day such violation
shall continue to exist shall constitute a
separate offense..
SECTION 6.
PUBLICATION CLAUSE - This ordinance shall
take immediately from and after its passage
and publication of its caption, as the law in
such cases provides.
