APRIL 24, 1962
The City Council met April 24, 1962 with all members present, Mayor
Hall, Jack Bostic, Jack Parker, Carl Ward, Pat Onatot and J. R.
Story. Meeting was called to order and the roll was called.
Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
Motion was made by Carl 'Yard and seconded by Jack Bostic to leave
Jim Barbers fee the same. Motion carried.
A letter was read from The East Texas Chamber of Commerce. The
Mayor asked that the letter be sent to Melvin St. Sohn, president
of the East Texas Chamber of Commerce. A letter from the Texas
Municipal League was read. The Council would favor federal aid
from the League.
Mr. C. A. Daniel stet before the Council to discuss the drainage
problem on the Agnes Eaves property, and the Council referred him
to the Engineers for the City and mrs. Eaves.
M. F. Allen, 0. 4. Hampton and Glen Daniel met with Council to ask
for help to buy a new fire truck. They had a proposal that the
Fire Department pay 1/3 of the cost of a new truck providing the
City would pay the other 2/3. The estimated cost of the truck is
$15,000.00. The Council stated that a future street fund program
would include additional fire equopment.
Garbage grounds were discussed, Council asked that we pay A. D.
Boyd for the part of the year that we have used his property for
dumping purposes.
Motion was made by J. R. Storey and seconded by Jack Parker that
the third reading of Ordinance No. 62-5 be adopted. Motion
carried.
The City Council decided to study further on the Electrical
Ordinance No. 62-6.
The Council ask Mr. Lee to invest the City funds. Motion was made
by Carl ward and seconded by at Unstot to meet on the 2nd Tuesday
of the month at 7 o' clock. Motion carried.
With no further business motion was made by Jack Bostic and
seconded by J. R. Story the meeting adjourn.
