Sept. 11, 1962
The City Council met in regular meeting at 7 PM Sept. 11, 1962 with all
Members present.
Minutes of the last regular meeting were read and approved. Also the
minutes of the special meeting, called for Hearing on Zoning were read
and approved.
A report on the traffic survey on HWY'. 78 & 544 was discussed. tResults
of survey showed traffic light was not needed at the present time.
A letter from the Santa Fe on a crossing light for Ballard Street was
read and discussed. They ask that the City make a survey of the crossing.
No one from the Council seemed able to attend the League Meeting in Ft.
Worth,. October 7, 8, & 9th.
Leon Holbert , Bill Painter and Clyde Parker, members of the school board,
met with the Council in reference to drainage, parking, curb and gutter
and additional street right-of-way for the New School. It was discussed
that the new sewer line run North but no dicision. The School Board ask
that the City get the REA to remove polls within the City limits . Mr.
Holbert ask Mayor Hall to write a letter to the REA to this effect.
Council told School Board the City Engineers would make a survey of the
street in front of the New School site and if the School would curb and
gutter the street the City would put rock and gravel on the street until
such time they could do more.
, . Jack Bentley met with Council to discuss the street repair on Stone St .
and repair his house caused by high wqter. Council suggested'that he
present his problem to the Contractor, Hugh Robertson. Submit one copy
to Mr. Robertson and one to Mr. Lee , for the City files , of his loss .
The Council told Mr. Bentley the Street would be fixed as soon as it
was dry enough.
Chief Gaylor met with Council to discuss the possibility of establishing
and auxiliary police. Mr. Gaylor said there would be a maxinum of $ men
in the Auxiliary. It was approved subject to the approval of the City
Atty. and that Mr. Lee look into the Insurance Bonds . Motion was made by
J. R. Storey and seconded by Jack Boatic to establish an Auxiliary.
Motion carried.
Council set Sept . 25th . 1962 at 7 PM for Public Hearing on Zoning changes
and also the changing from 600 Sq. Ft . to 450 Sq. Ft. for Multi-family
d wellings , on a motion made by Jack Bostic and seconded by Carl Ward .
Motion Carried.
Mr. Kimbrow met with Council in reference to garbage pick-up. The Council
was not in agreement of front of house pick-up but they would discuss it
and let him know in the next two weeks .
There were no objections by the Citizens on the proposed budget for the
year 1962-63 . Motion was made by J. ". Storey and seconded by Jack Bostic
to adopt the New Budget . Motion carried.
Bills for the Mo th were read and approved to be paid on a motion made by
Jack Parker and econded by Carl Ward. Motion carried.
