Dec. 11, 1962
The Council met Dec. 11, at 7 : 00 with al_' members present except Jack
Bostic. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Hall .
The minutes of the last regular meeting of Nov.k 13th and also the
minutes of the special session of Nov. 20th. - ere read and approved.
Mr. teat and Mr. Bailey, representatives of the General Telephone Co. ,
met with. the Council in reference to a rate increase . After consider-
able discussion the Council felt that a rate increase at this time
would not be justified. Motion was made by J. R. utorey and seconded
by Carl ward to take their offer under consideration and let them
know at a future date . 1, otion carried.
Mr. :1_11er with Henningson, )urham and Richardson met with the L'ouncil
in reference to an error in estimating residential inspection and lay-
out on the contract completed by Hugh Robertson and Co. It was decided
that if there was any money left out of the fund provided for .tone and
4th St. repair this amount would be ea id to Henningson, Durham and
Richardson an 3 the balance to be paid at some future date. "r. Willer
stated that there would be no interest charged on the ? .569.80. Motion
was made by Jack darker and seconded by J. R. Storey to this effect.
Motion carried.
Council ask that; American Tool Inc. , water be cut off if not paid by
12:00 noon Dec. 12th. for non payment of bill.
The City will Day the balance due up to $J1000.00 on the New Fire Truck,
on a motion made by J. R. Storey and seconded by Pat Onstot. Notion
carried.
Mr. Connelyts request about moving a house in on Brown St in an in-
dustrial area was discussed and the Council ask that he take it up
with the Zoning Commission.
A letter from Mr. John L. Bostic was read asking t:.at part of the
utilities for the Corporation Court be paid by the City. After sole
discussion the Council, agreed that the City would pay 1/3 of the
utilities beginning Jan. 1, 1963, on a motion made by Carl a v'ard and
seconded by Pat Onstot. Notion carried.
Ordinance # 62-16 for arrest without warrant Ives read and approved
on a motion i jade by Jack Parker and seconded by Pat Onstot. Motion
carried.
The rate increase as requested by the Telephone Co. was discussed further.
Mayor Hall appointed the following members as a committee to stpdy the
the Telephone Company' s request, Jack Parker, J. R. otorey and Carl Ward.
' The Nov. bills were read and approve') for payment on a motion made by
Carl Ward and seconded by Pat Onstot. Motion Carried.
MINUTES OF COUNCIL ETING DEC. 11, 1962 CONTINUED:
Due to a high percentage of the Water purbhased being un-accounted
for, a motion was fade by Carl Ward and seconded by Pat Onstot to
meter all consumers . This was done uron a recommenda tion by the
City Manager. It was agreed that all users of water be metered and
that non-profit organizations such as churches and etc. , would
continue to receive water without charge for the time being.
Motion was made by Pat Onstot and seconded by Carl ward to adopt
Cohstruction Specifications covering water and sewer installations.
No. 16 and 17.
Motion was made by Pat Onstot and seconded by Carl 44ard to altagt
request The Texas Power and Light Co. to put a street light on South
First et near the existing 6" fire plug.
