04-17-1963 (City Council) Minutes 4 -
SPECIAL MEETING
° - 5:00 PM, Wed. , April 17, 1963
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Pro-tem Jack Parker with
the following members present: Carl Ward, Taylor Hickman and Pat
Onstot. Also present was City Engineer Bob Hogan and city manager
Ernest Lee.
The rr. eeting was called f'r, the purpose of reviewing the plans and
specifications for the proposed paving of Marble Street from Jackson
to ! ;.;a a , f-t-{ 'r. Hour estimated that, since tiis is a.
small job for a contractor to move in on, the cost would be about
$36.00 per lin. ft. , or $12.00 per front ft. The Council decided.
that $12.00 per front ft. be used, at least until bids were re-
ceived. If the Council decides to'receive bids and the low bid is
under the $36.00, the difference would be refunded to the property
owners. This estimate is based on the City paying 1/3 of the
cost and the property owners on each side paying 1/3.
Mr. Hogan also ptiirste_' ,ut t .at fut,ur-« 1( -.6 ,cage plans cAl _f)r
a 12 inch water main be extended West from the end of the 14 inch
main in Marble St. that ends at Ballard. He estimated that this
extension would cost $4,700.00. He recommended that this line
should be in place before the paving was done, otherwise, new pav-
ing would have to be cut in the future and cost considerably more
money. No official action was take on the estimate at this time.
The manager reported that the cost of the water main extension
could possibly be absorbed by October 1, 1963, providing we do
not have any sizeable extensions to make or an unusual amount of
trouble between now and then.
Mr. Hogan also gave the Council a brief look at some of the plan-
ning now being done that will or should fit into a five year im-
provement program that would also fit a master plan covering the
next twenty years.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 6: 30 PM.
