MINUTES SPECIAL MEETING
April 22, 1963 6:30 PM
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Hall, with all members
present. Also present was Bob Hogan, City Engineer, Dick Stewart,
Engineer and Ernest Lee, City Manager.
The meeting was called to open bids on the proposed paving of
Marble Street between Jackson and Ballard Streets .
Two bids were received as follows:
Bi-Co. Pavers, Dallas $ 7,032.00
Texas Bitulittic Co., Dallas 8,000.50
C. A. Daniel, Garland, No Bid.
After discussion, a motion to accept the low of $7,032.00 was made
by Carl Ward and seconded by Pat Onstot. Motion carried unanimously..
This motion wax made subject to all property owners depositing their
1/3 of the total cost into an escrow account before awarding a
contract to the low bidder. A motion was made by Mr. Shields that
the City would pay 1/3 of the paving cost, seconded by Carl Ward.
Motion carried.
Mr. Hogan pointed out to the Council that a 12" water main should
be extended from the le main at Ballard and Marble West to, an d
across Jackson Street before any paving is done. This line would
also fit into future water improvements for the entire West side
of the City. After some discussion, a motion was made by Jack Parker
that the line be installed before paving, providing owner funds
were on deposit for their shake of the cost of paving, Second by
Pat Onstot. Motion carried unanimously.
The estimated cost of the 12" water main in place was $L,100.00.
The manager reported that material cost would be about $2,903.82
plus $800.00 for labor or a total of $3,703.82 plus engineering.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 9:15 PM.
