04-14-1964 (City Council) Minutes a ,- COUNCIL MEETING April 14, 1964 The City Council met in regular session April 14, 1964, with all members present: R. J. Hall, Mayor, Councilmen: R. D. Onstot, Jack Parker, C .T. Shields, Taylor Hickman end Carl -lard. City Atty. John Gay, City Adm. Jack H. e1aitt and City Secretary Oneida Gallagher. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Hall. The minutes of the last regular meeting and also the minutes of the special meeting of March 27th, were reed and approved. The Election Canvass wee held. Alderman Jack rarker introduced a re- solution and order and moved its adoption. The motion was seconded by Alderman Taylor Hickman and the motion carrying with it the adoption of the resolution and order prevailed by the following vote, Ayes; All present voting for, Noes; None. The resolution is as follows: There came on to be considered the returns of an election held on the 7th day of April 1964, for the purpose of electing the hereinafter named officials, and it appearing from said returns, duly and legally made, that there were cast at said election 281 valid and legal votes: that each of the candidates in said election received the following votes; NAME OF CATDIDATE FOR MAYOR R. W. Hampton was duly elected Mayor of said City at said election R. D. Onstot and Melvin K. St. John mere duly elected Aldermen of said City at said election, and said above named parties are hereby declared duly elected to said respective offices, subject to the taking of their oaths and filing bond as provided by the laws of the State of Texas . RESOLUTION Whereas, on the 14th day of April 1964 the City Council of the City of WIT;— lie convened in regular session at the regular meeting place with all members present: And "hereas, the First State Bank of Wylie, Texas is the official depository for all Municipal Funds; Now Therefore, be it resolved, on and after this the 14th day of April 1964 that signatures on all checks be signed only by 0. W. hampton, Mayor or R. D. Onstot, Mayor Pro-Tem, and contersigned by Oneida Gallagher, City Secretary and that all other signatures hereto fore authorized and recinded. RES-GLU T I ON `;Thereas,on the 14th day of April 1964, the City Council of the City of Wylie, Texas convened in regular session at the regular meeting place with all members present, and, Whereas, the Gulf, Colorado, and S ,nta Fe Railway Company, have long since removed the depot building and have left the raised cement foundation, which is unsightly to Ballard Street, same being the Main Street, of the City of Wylie, on entrance to the City of Wylie from Highway 78, and, Whereas, The Garden Club, Civic Organizations and many citizens feel this harpers a proposed beutification of the City of Wylie in the not too dis- tant future, and, Whereas, the Mayor and City Council of the City of Wylie are in receipt of numerous complants, now: Therefore,be it resolved that the Citizens of Wylie does and herewith re- gisters a complaint to this unsightly raised concrete foundation and ask your very early consideration of removal and herewith offer our cooperat- ion in the disposal of the debris. Re- quest was filed March 30, 1964. Motion was rrade by C. T. Shields se- conded by Melvin K. St John to annex this property. Unanimous ayes . Notion was made by Taylor Hickman and seconded by Melvin K. St John to purchase for 1;1.00 a building from the Santa Fe Railway at Farmersville, Texas . Motion carried. Bills were read and approved to be paid on a motion made by Taylor Hickman and seconded by R. D. Onstot. Motion carried. Motion was made by Carl Ward and seconded by Melvin K. St John to adjourn at 9:00 P.M. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned. Mayor OV\_e,c/76, 1-ef City Secretary April 14, 1964 PETITION TO EXTEND CITY LIMITS TO THE MAYOR AND GOVERNING BODY OF TEE CITY OF WYLIE, TEXAS: : The undersigned owners of the hereinafter discribed tract of land , on which less than three (3) qualified voters reside, hereby petition your Honorable Body to extend the present City Limits so as to include as a part of the City of Wylie, Texas, the following described territory, to-wit: Situated in Collin County, Texas, and being a part of the Francisco de la Pina Survay and being out of a 65 acre tract conveyed to Lee Kirby by W. H. Brigham and F. C. Brigham by deed as recorded in Volume 203 at Page 263 of the Deed Records of Collin County, Texas, and being more particularly described as follows, BEGINNING at a highvi y marker set at the interesection of County Road with Farm Market Road 544 said point being 40 feet East of a tract of land being known as Wylwood Estates on preliminary plat to the City of Wylie, Texas; THENCE South 44 deg. 05 min. East with ROW of Farm Road 544, 43 feet to highway marker for corner; THENCE South 89 deg. 05 min East with ROW of said Farm Road 544, 384.60 feet to iron stake set in ROW for corner; THENCE North Odeg. 55 min. East, 348 feet to iron stake for corner; THENCE North 89 deg. 5 min. West, 415 feet to an iron stake set on East line of County Road for corner; THENCE South 0 deg. 55 min. West with the East Line of said County Road 317.60 feet to place of beginning and containing 3.305 Acres of land. I certify that the above described tract of land is con- tiguous and adjacent to the City of Wylie, Texas, is not more than one-half (1/2) mile in width, and that this petition is signed and duly acknowledged by each and every person or cor- poration having an interest in said land.
