The City Council met in regular session May 11, 1964 at 700 P. L.
Present: Mayor Hampton, Councilmen: C . T. Shields, R. D. Onstot,
Melvin K. St John and Carl Ward. Absent Taylor Hickman. City Adm.
Jack H. Whitt and City Secretary, Oneida Gallagher. City Atty. John
Gay was absent.

The neeting was called to order by ,iavor flampton. The minutes of the
last regular meeting of April 14, 1964 were read and approved.
On anotion by Carl Ward and seconded by Melvin St John the Council
asked that we pay Jim Barber former Judge, for the 7 cases he tried
after the appointment of Jack H. Whitt as acting City Judge.flotion
carried.
After some discussion the Council decided to pay Jack H. hitt,
acting City Judge, 0100.00 per month for his services .
Mayor Hampton appointed Howard McMillian as Deputy Civil Defense
Cordinator for a one year period.
Monthly bills were read and op roved to be paid on a motion made by
Pat Onstot and seconded by C. T. Shields . Motion carried.
The Council decidedthat after June 1st. garbage will be picked-up on
the front. South of Highway 78, Monday and Thursday and North of Highway
78 on Tuesday and Friday.
An accounting machine was discussed and the Council ask Mr. Whitt to
check into it further for cost and how it would fit into our office work.
The Council ask that a Health Ordinance be drawn up for the City to
protect Citizens and have regular inspection by the County Health Unit.
Pet Control was discussed, not a leash law or ordinance but a better
control to rid the City of strays and unwanted pets of any kind.
Motion was made by C . T. Shields and seconded by Carl Ward to become
effective May 15, 1964, water rates would be 30j, per 1000 gal . of
water after the use of 6000 gal . rather than the rate as it now stands
of 17,000 gallons.
With no further business, motion was made by Melvin St John and
seconded by C . T. Shields to adjourn at 9: 00 P.M.
