June 9, 1964
The City Council met in regular session June 9, 1964 at 700 P. M. .....,
Present: Mayor Hampton, Councilmen: C . T. Shields, Carl hard, Taylor
Hickman and Melvin St. John. Absent R. D. Onstot, on Vacation.
City Adm. Jack H. Whitt, City Atty. John Gay and City Secretary
Oneida Gallagher.
The meeting was called to •order by Mayor Hampton. The minutes of the
last regular meeting of May 11, 1964 were read and approved as read.
Mayor Hampton appointed an Equalization Board to meet June 20th and
27th, 1964 to equalize City Taxes . The Board consists of Jack Parker,
Nell Ellenburg and Richard Nance.
The bills were read and aroved to be paid on a motion made by Carl
and and seconded by T. J. -icknan. notion carried.
The police department was discussed. Acting Chief Rice met with Council
in reference to the Police Department. Mayor Hampton appointed Robert
D. Rice as Chief of Police with the Council' s approval.
The Council decided to have three full time men until the end of this
fiscal year, at a salary of 400.00 per month for the Chief and the
two Policemen at 300.00 for 60 days unexperienced per month and an ex-
perienced man at 335.00 per month.

The Council approved making an application for a City Government Radio
License for the City of dyne, and a-pply immediately to Federal Com-
munication Commissions .
Capital Innrovement in the Street Department and Finance thereof was
discussed in the Council.
Following motion waa made by Councilman Ward and seconded by Councilman
Hickman:
Recommended to the Citizens of Wylie approval of a .50,000.00 General
Obligation Tax Bond to be paid over a 15 year period of time, to be
utilized in a Capital Street voluntary participation improvement pro-
gram on the voter Unanamously Ayes.

Shields . Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 10:15.
