March 9, 1965
The City Council met in regular session March 9, 1965, at 7::00 P. M.
Present:; Mayor Hampton, Councilmen; Ward, Hickman St. John,Shields,
with Councilman Onstot absent. City Atty. John Gay, City Administrator
Jack H. Whitt and City Secretary Oneida Gallagher.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Hampton. The minutes of the
last regular meeting of February 9, 1965 were read and approved as read
on a moti n by Councilman Shields and seconded by Councilman Hickman.
Motion carried.
Mayor Hampton certified the Candidates for Aldermen. On question asked
if they had lived in State for one year and City for six months. They
all qualified. On a motion by Councilman St. John and seconded by council-
man Hickman, places on the Ballot were drawn by 10 Candidates saying they
were qualified to place their names on the Ballot. Unanimous Ayes.

Bob Hogan with Henningson, Durham and Richardson met with Council in
reference to Sewer Line Southwest of City. Council ask that Mr; Hogan
and Mr. Whitt consult with Mr. Mason, Soil Engineer en testing the
soil and pipe.
On a motion by Councilman Hickman and seconded by Councilman Shields
to annex the 1 acre tract for T. M. Trimble and the 3.3 acre Tract
for First Christian Church and notify County. Unanimous Ayes.
In reference to Water Tower, on a motion by Councilman St. John and
seconded by Councilman Hickman the bid was given to Water Tank Service
Inc. at a price of $1,945.00. Color and letters of Council choice.
Unanimous Ayes.
Traffic Signal Ordinance for the erection of a traffic control signal
at the intersection of Oak and Jackson was read and approved on a motion
by Councilman St. John and seconded by Councilman Hickman. Motion Carried.
Monthly Bills were read and approved to be paid on anotion by Councilman
Shields and seconded by Councilman Ward. Motion carried.
Ordinance was read to create a Park Recreation Borad. Council deferred
consideration to a later date.
Motion to adjourn by Councilman St. John and seconded by C uncilman
Hickman. Motion carried.
