04-13-1965 (City Council) Minutes P_ 1l COUNTIL MEETING .t April 13, 1965 The City Council met in regular session April 13, 1965 at 7:OOP M. all members present. Mayor Hampton, Councilmen: Ward, Onstot, Shields, St. John and Hickman. City Adm. Jack H. Whitt, City Secy. Oneida Gallagher with City Atty. John Gay absent. The meetin was called to order by Mayor Hampton. The minutes of the last regular meeting of March 9, 1965 were read and approved as read on a motion by Councilman Ward and seconded by Councleman St. John. Motion carried. The Election Canvass was held. Councilman Ward introduceda resolution and order andaeved its adoption. The motion was seconded by Council- man Onstet and the motion carrying with it the adoption of the resolut- ion and order prevailed by the following votes, Ayes; All present voting for, Noes, Nohe. The resolution is as follows: There came on to be considered the returns of an election held on the 6th day of April, 1965, for the purpose of electing the hereinafter named officials, and its appearing from said returns duly and legally made, that there were cast at said election 204 valid and legal votes, that each of the Candidates in said election received the following votes; NAME G' CANDIDATES FOR ALDERMAN: Joe Douthitt 61 David L. Miller 117 Bill Kreymer 67 C. T. Shields 90 Fletcher Hensley 48 Roland K.Mcdonald 40 C. H. Edwards 12 Carl Dee Ward 75 A. J. McClure 11 W. D. Wingfield 90 THEREFOR ) BE RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WYLIE, TEXAS: That said election was duly called; that notice of said election was given in accordance with law, and that David L. Miller, C. T. Shields, and W. D. Wingfield were duly elected Aldermen of said City at said election and said above named parties are hereby declared duly elected to said respective office, subject to the taking of their Oaths and filing Bond as provided by the laws of the State of Texas. City Administrator Jack H. Whitt administered the Oath of Office to; David L. Miller, C. T. Shields and W. D. Wingfield for Councilmen. Motion by Councilman St. John and seconded by Councilman Wingfield that Councilman Onstot be re-elected for a one year period, Mayor Pro-Tem. Pursant it Article #991, Vernons Civil Statutes. Unanimous Ayes. APPOINTMENTS: City Secretary, Tax Assessor & Collector, and Clerk of the City Courts, Oneida Gallagher, on a motion by Councilman St. John and seconded by Councilman Onstot. Unanimous Ayes. City Atty. John Gay on a motion by Councilman St. John and seconded by Councilman Onstot. Unanimous Ayes. City Judge, on a motion by Councilman St. John and seconded by Council- man shields to re-appoint Jack H. Whitt City Judge. Unanimous Ayes. Chief of Police, Robert Rice en a motion by Councilman Onstot and Se- conded by Councilman Wingfield. Unanimous Ayes. In reference to Fire Truck, Council ask Mr. Whitt to ask Mr. C. Truett Smith, First State Bank of Wylie if he was willing to make a loan .. to the City large enough to buy a new Fire Truck, on a motion by Council- man Onstot and seconded by Councilman Miller. Unimous Ayes. Bills were read and approved as read to be paid on a motion by Council- man St. John and seconded by Councilman Miller. Motion carried.
