06-08-1965 (City Council) Minutes a`7 COUNCIL MEETING June 8, 1965 The City Council met in regular session at 7 :00 PM June 8, 1965. Present: Mayor Hampton. Aldermen: Shields, Wingfield, Onstot and Miller. City Atty. John Gay. City Adm. Jack H. Whitt and City Secy. Oneida Gallagher, with Alderman St. John absent. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Hampton. The minutes of the last regular meeting of May 12, 1965 were read and approved as read on a motion by Alderman Onstot and seconded by Alderman Shields . Motion carried. Monthly bills were read and ap: roved to be paid on a motion by Alder- man Onstot and seconded by Alderman Miller. Motion carried. A letter from The Assembly of God Church was read in reference to Birmingham Street. The Council ask Mr. Whitt to write a letter to the Church to have their signatures on Contract for Church' s part of the street program. In reference to Streets, motion was made by Alderman Shields and seconded by Alderman dingfield to pass a Resolution for the .improve- ments on Birmingham Street. Motion carried. In reference to the Regional Transporatation Study, motion was made by Alderman Onstot and seconded by Alderman Miller to adopt the Resolution and authorize the Mayor to sign the agreement. Unanimous Ayes. Mayor Hampton appointed an Equalization Board to equalize City Taxes for the year 1965, consisting of C. B. Martin, Mrs. John L. Bostic, Sr. and J. T. Hickman, to meet Saturday June 19, 1965 from 8:00 A. M. until 5:00 P. M. and also Saturday June 26, 1965 from 8:00 A. M. Until 12:00 Noon at the City Hall. Council ask that Mr. Whitt call Mr. Cline with the Water Tank Service Inc. about painting the Water Tower. On a motion by Alderman Miller and seconded by Alderman Onstot to adjourn at 11:15 P. M.
