REGULAR CO-:CIL MEETING k
August 10, 1965
The City Council met in regular session at 7:00 PM August 10, 1965.
Present:Mayor Hampton. Aldermen: Onstot, Shields and Wingfield.
City Atty. John Gay. City Adm. Jack H. Whitt and City Secy. Oneida
Gallagher, with Aldermen St. John and Miller absent.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor hampton and the minutes of
the last regular meeting of July 13, 1965 and also the minutes of the
special meeting of July 20, 1965 were read and approved as read on a
motion by Councilman Onstot and seconded by Councilman Wingfield.
Motion carried.
Jiek Housewright, M. M. Martin and Ed Woods met with Council in ref.
to help to black top read to Cemetary. After some discussion the
Council told the committee that the City would write a letter of com-
mitment to Catheleen Moore, 5ecy. of the Association, that City de-
dicate $200.00 out of the General Fund. Motion by Councilman Onstot
and seconded by Councilman Snields . Motion carried.
Truett Smith met with Oouncil to discuss a water line to Rockwall, East
from treatment plant. Council ask Mr. W:-.itt to get information re-
Water line to Rockwall and size of line that might benefit the City of
Wylie in the future for industrial tract.
Frank Medinach with the First Southwest Co. met with Council in ref. to
a Fire Truck. Mr. Medinach discussed the '="a"arrant Plan, whether it would
be feasable for the City to spend this much money at this time. The
Council decided to meet with the Fire Department and discuss setting-up
a reserve of money over a period of a few years for a new truck or pay
cash for a used Fire Truck, presently if one can be located.
Mr. 0. F. Barnett met with Council in ref. to an Asphalt Distributor,
for the City of Wylie. After some discussion the Council decided this
machine was too large for the City needs.
Mr. Whitt read a letter of proposal for the investigation of the subsur-
face soil conditions on the sewer line failure West of Town. The Council
on a motion by Councilman Onstot and seconded by Councilman Shields, to
have the National Soil Service Inc. make soil survey and recommend to the
City Engineer for design of a new line to replace the sewer out fall line
not to exceed , 488.00, under the supervision of the City Engineer, Bob
Hogan with Henningson, Durham and Richardson. Unanimous Ayes .
On question of North East Water Supply Corp. the Council ask Mr. Whitt
to call Paul Wilson and call a meeting before they gave permission to
set a meter for this project.
Mayor Hampton read a letter of resignation as of August 15, 1965 from
Police Chief Robert Rice. The Council accepted his resignation and
agreed to pay him one week vacation check.
Motion was made by Councilman Wingfield and seconded by Councilman
Shields to appoint Archie Hatfield as acting Chief of Police with the
salary of the Chief of Police. Motion Carried.
On a mot&can by Council Shields and seconded by Councilman. Wingfield to
hire Royce D. Abbott as Patrolman for the City of Wylie. Motion carried.

The break in water line North of town was discussed. The Council
decided to send the property owners a bill for the actual cost of
repairing the water line.
Bills were read and approved to be paid on a motion by Councilman
Shields and seconded by Councilman Onstot, with reservations on
the Ellenburg Bros. bill until it has been measured. Motion carried.
Motion was made to adjourn by Councilman Onstot and seconded by
Councilman Shields at 11:15 PM. Meeting adjourned.
