Minutes of Regular Council Meeting
June 14, 1966
The City Council met in regular session June 14, 1966 at 7:00 P. M.
Present: Mayor Hampton. Aldermen: Posey, Shields, Wingfield,Tibbals
and Douthitt. City Adm. Jack H. Whitt. City Secy. Oneida Gallagher.
With John Gay, City Attorney absent.
The minutes of the lat regular meeting of May 10, 1966 were read
and approved as read on a motion by Councilman Shields and seconded
by Councilman Wingfield. Motion carried.
Bills were read and approved to be paid on a motion by Councilman
Shields and seconded by Councilman Douthitt. Motion carried.
Fire Chief, A. B. Simmons met with Council to ask for their help
to buy a Chevrolet Station Wagon from Roy Moore for the Fire Dept.
for $1,000.00, not to be used as an ambulance, only in an emergency.
Motion by Councilman Posey and seconded by Councilman Shields to
pay the $1,000.00. Unanimous Ayes.
Mayor Hampton ask that the Council change the meeting time from 7:00
P. M. until 7: 30 P. M. during the summer months. Motion was made by
Councilman Shields and seconded by Councilman Wingfield to this effect.
Motion carried.
Mayor Hampton set the date of June 25, 1966 from 8: 00 A. M. until
5: 00 P. M. and also July 2, 1966 from 8:00 until 12:00 Noon at the
City Hall for the Equalization Board to meet to equalize City Taxes for
the year 1966. The Board to be appointed later.
Motion to adjourn at 10:00 by Councilman Shields and seconded by
Councilman Wingfield. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned.
