REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING
July 12, 1966
The City Council met in regular session, July 12, 1966 at 7:30 P. M.
Present: Mayor Hampton. Aldermen: Shields, Douthitt and Posey, with
Wingfiled and Tibbals absent. City Adm. Jack H. Whitt, City Atty.
John Gay and City Secy. Oneida Gallagher.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Hampton. The minutes of the
last regular meeting of June 14, 1966 were read and approved as read
on a motion by Councilman Douthitt and seconded by Councilman Shields.
Motion carried.
Mr. 011ie Thurman made oral presentation to City Council requesting
variance in plumbing ordinance to include water service from the main
to water meter in plastic pipe rather than copper. This variance re-
quested due to shortage of copper, After shor-tdiscussion and per sug-
gesteion of City Manager, matter to lie referred to Consultant Eng-
ineer for recommendation.
Discussion of street lighting system, motion was made by Councilman
Shields and seconded by Councilman Douthitt to replace d7 antequated
lighting fixtures with new 295 watt type 101 General Electric fixtures
and to ask Texas Power and Light to study and install at their earliest
convenience . On the question: All Ayes .
On written proposal of Riverview Equipment Co. Dallas, Texas on 1962
model 2110 John Deere Tractor with model 700 loader and model 50 Back-
hoe to trade for City owned Ford Tractor with loader and backhoe a net
difference of ; 3,750.00. A short discussion was entered into. On the
motion of Councilman Posey and seconded by Councilman Shields to pur-
chase and authorize the Mayor and City Treasurer to negotiate and sign
a note with the First State Bank on the Water and Sewer Fund for
$3,750.00 if the John Deere proves satisfactory in performance, the
question was asked: Unanimous Ayes .
Motion was made by Councilman Shields and seconded by Councilman
Douthitt to approve the building on South Ballard for Joe Douthitt,
if it does not affect the Fire Insurance Rate. Motion carried.
Motion to adjourn by Councilman Douthitt and seconded by Councilman
Posey. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned.
