04-11-1967 (City Council) Minutes 1 '29 REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING • April 11, 1967 The City Council met in regular session April 11, 1967 at 7: 00 PM. Present Mayor Hampton. Aldermen; Shields, Posey, Douthitt and Tibbals with Wingfield absent. City Atty. John Gay, City Secy. Oneida Gallagher with City Adm. Jack I:=. Whitt absent. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Hampton. The ri inutes of the last regular meeting of March iL., 1967 were re:='d and approved as road on a motion by Alderman Tibbals and seconded by Alderman shields . Motion carried. _ Resolution Canvassing Returns and Declaring Results of Bond Election, it moved by Alderman Tibbals and seconded by Alderman S ields that the same be passed and. adopted. On the motion the following members voted "AYE" : Alderman Shields , Posey, 'Jouthitt and Tibblas; and none voted "NO" . The City Election Canvass was held. From said returns duly and legally made, that there were cast at said election 179 valid and legal votes, 136 for Street Bond and 43 against. Alderman Shields introduced a Resolution and Order and roved its adoption. The motion was seconded by Alderman Tibbals and motion carrying with it the adoption of the Resolution and Order prevailed by the following votes :- "AYE" , lder- man Shields, Posey, Douthitt and. Tibbals; and none voted "NO" There came on to be considered the returns of an election held on the _4th day of April 1967, for the purpose of electing the here- intoafter named officials, and its appearing from said returns duly and legally made, that there were cast at said election 204 valid and legal votes, that each of the Candidates in said election re- ceived the following votes :• Chas . P. Elledge 126 Votes Kenneth A. Mauk 161 Votes William E. Martin 178 Votes Bobby Skipwith 125 Votes . TEEREPORR BE TT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WYLIE, TEXAS: That said election was duly called; that notice of said election was given in accordance with the law, and that Chas . P . Elledge, William E. Martin and Kenneth A. Mauk were duly elected Aldermen of said City at said election, and above named parties are hereby declared duly elected to said respective office, subject to the taking of their Oaths and filing Bond as provided by the laws of the State of Texas . ' John Gay City Atty. administered the Oath of Office to Elledge, Martin and Mauk for Aldermen. Motion. by Alderman .Douthitt and seconded by Alderman Elledge to Elect Alderman Tibbals for the Office of Mayor Pro--Tem pursant to Article #991, Vernons Civil Statutes . Unanimous Ayes . Mayor Harpton appointed Archie Hatfield as Chief of Police for one (1) year term, it was moved by Alderman Douthitt and seconded by Alderman Mauk that the appointment be made. Motion carried. Monthly bills were read and approved to be paid on a motion by Alderman Tibbals and seconded by Alderman Martin. Motion carried. Motion to adjourn by Alderman Douthitt and seconded by Alderman Martin. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 8 :45 PM. Mayor ' City Secretary
