August 8, 1967
The City Council met in regular session August 8, 1967 at 7PM. Present
Mayor Hampton, Aldermen: Tibbals Douthitt, Martin Elledge and Mauk. City
Attorney John Gay, City Manager Jack H. Whitt with City Secret° ry
Oneida Gallagher absent on vacation.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Hampton. The minutes of the last
regular meeting of July 11, 1967 were read any°_ approved as read on a motion
by Alderman Tibbals and seconded by Alderman Martin. Unanimous Ayes.
Monthly bills were read and after short discussion were ordered paid on a
motion by Alderman Mauk and seconded by Alderman Elledge. Unanimous Ayes.
Short presentation of Capital Improvements for 1967-1968 Budgetory items
in the amount of $5,650.00 for the General Fund and $5,925.00 for the
Water and Sewer Fund for a total of $p11,575.00 by City Manager. Pre-
liminary verbal approval by the City Council was given for thesd items
subject to futither consideration of the tax levy necessary to accomo-
date the final budget presentation to be made at a later date..
City Manager announced debt requirment for 1967-1968 for all funds amount-
ed to S34,053.00, which was noted and discussed by the City Council.
Preliminary approval was also given on pay raises for employees of the
Police Department, Sanitation Department and Street Department. In ad-
dition 40 hour work week commencing October 1,1967 was given preliminary
approval for all departments other than Police. Merit service awards
for specific employees were discussed and preliminary approval was given.
On motion by-Alderman Mauk and seconded by Alderman Martin, City Manager
granted $100.00 per month increase in salary effective August 1, 1967.

On motion by Alderman Tibbals and seconded by Alderman Mauk meeting
adjourned at 10:00 PM. Unanimous Ayes .
