07-09-1968 (City Council) Minutes J ot% REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING July 9, 1968 The City Council met in regular session July 9, 1968 at 7:00 PM. present: Mayor Hall; Aldermen; Tibbals, Elledge, Mauk, Martin and Cline. City Atty. John Gay, City Manager Jack Whitt and City Secy. Oneida Gallagher. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Hall . Minutes of the last regular meeting of June 11, 1968 were read and approved as read on a motion by Alderman Elledge and seconded by Alderman Mauk. Motinn carried. Ordinance # 68-3 An ordinance to protect the public health and promote the public welfare of the City of Wylie, Texas, by providing for the filling up and drainage of lots that shall have unwholesome place or places where stagnant water may accumulate thereon; the cleaning of any building or premises of filth carsion or other impure and unwhol- some matter; requiring owners or occupants of lots in the City of Wylie, Texas to keep said lots free from weeds, rubbish, brush and other unsightly or unsanitary matters in case of failure of owner to make lots and or premises sanitary and sightly that the same may be done at the expense o" the City of Wylie, Texas; providing for the fixing of a lien against such lots for such improvements; pro- viding for publication and effective date of this ordinance. Motion by Ald. Mauk seconded by Ald. Elledge. Motion Carried. Ordinance # 6 An Ordinance annexing the hereinafter described territory to the City of Wylie, Collin County, Texas, and extending the boundry limits of said City so as to include said hereinafter described property within the City Limits, and granting to said territory and to all future inhabitants of said property all of the rights and priveleges of other Citizens and binding said future inhabit- ants by all of the acts and ordinances of said City. Motion by Alderman Martin and seconded by Alderman Cline. Unanimous Ayes. Ordinance # 68-4 An Ordinance hieing it unlawful and declaring a nuisance of any person, firm or corporation to abandon, leave or park for a period longer than thirty days on any lot, street, alley or parcel of land in the City of Wylie, any motor vehicle or parts thereof, which motor vehicle is in such condition so as to make it impractical of being driven or legally operated and is not currently registered or does not bear a current State Inspection Sticker; providing for certain exceptions thereto; providing for the impounding and ultimate dis- posal of any such vehicle or part thereof; providing for a penalty for the violation of this Ordinance; providing for the publication of the caption of this ordinance and an effective date thereof. Motion Ald. Martin and seconded by Alderman Mauk. Motion carried. 154 Minutes Conttd. for July meeting Motion by Alderman Elledge and seconded by Alderman Mauk for City Manager Jack Whitt to hire two (2) men for Municipal Work. Motion carried. Mayor Hall ask City Manager Jack Whitt to contact same Eq- ualization Board for City Taxes as the School used, to meet in July. Mayor and Council set the date of July 15, 1968 at 7:30 PM to try out the new street sweeper. Bills were read and approved as read to be paid on a motion by Alderman Martin and seconded by Alderman Tibbals. Motion Carried. Request by Tommy Frederick to dump in City dump grounds was denied by Council since he has a Commercial Business. Motion to adjourn by Alderman *auk and seconded by Alderman Elledge. Motion carried.
