April 14, 1970
The City Council met in regular session April, 14, 1970 at 7: 00 PM at
City Hail. i'resent; Mayor Hall, Aldermen; Tibbals, Addicks, Martin,
Mauk and Thomas . City Atty. Gay, City Mgr. Mathis, Water Supt. Allen,
and City Secy. Gallagher.
Monthly bills were discussed and approved to be paid on motion by Ald.
Thomas and seconded by Aid. Mauk. Motion carried.
Letter of resignation was read by Mayor hall from City Judge Bob Taylor.
Notion by Ald. Tibbals and seconded by Aid. liartin to accept his resignat-
ion. Notion carried.
Street sweeper from Browning and Ferris was discussed. Motion by Ald. Tibbals
and seconded by Alderman Thomas to leave this to the New Council.
Motion carried.
The Election Canvass was held. There came on to be considered the returns
of the election held on April 4, 1970 for the purpose of electing the here-
into named officials and its appearing from said returns duly and legally
made, that there were cast at said election 408 valid and legal votes,
that each of the Candidates in said election received the following votes;

James Carroll asked for a recount of votes of election for Alderman.
It was agreeable with all concerned. The parties that would be effected
by the recount waived the formal requirments of the Texas Election Code
and agreed that a recount could be made during the Council meeting by a
canvassing board composed of Jimmy -athis, Harry Tibbals and John Addicks.
Notion by Ald, Thomas and seconded by Aid. Addicks . Passed OK.
• The recount was 158 for Mauk and 157 for Carroll .
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COU 1CIL OF THE CITY OF WYLIE, TEXAS
That election was duly called that notice of said election was given in
accordance with the law, and that C. W. Hackler was duly elected Mayor of
the City of Wylie, Texas and R. C. Dodd and Ken Mauk were duly elected
Councilmen for the City of Wylie, Texas. John Gay gave the Oath of office
to C . W. Hackler for Mayor and R. C. Dodd and Ken Mauk for Aldermaen.

Council denied the request of Otis Shellnutt for the rezoning of lot 3
Block 5, Keller adln. for a metal bldg. to be used as a Beauty Shop on
motion by Ald. Addikcs and seconded by Ald. Martin. All Ayes.
The City Council accepted the recommendation made by the Pl .nnin and
Zoning Board to rezone acreage out of Abst. 267, Martinez property from
single family residential to light industry, which would accoYodate a
Mobil home Park. There will be a public hearing Monday May 11, 1970 at
7: 30 PM. There will also be a public hearing on the annexation of a tract

Hogan, 'lazier, P' elps and Pearce with HD&R. met with L'ouncil and gave their
proposed preliminary recommendations of their findings with the City Sanitary
Sewer System. Council asked for time to eonsider the proposal.
motion was made by Ald Addicks and seconded by Ald. martin to look into
the program to hire College boys for summer work. All Ayes .
Motion by Ald. Thomas and seconded by Ald. Martin to contact citizens on
West side of South Ballard ;.n reference to drainage and advise the cost
for 18" tile would be $1.75 per ft. This is a State requirement.
Motion by Ald. Addicks and seconded by Ald. Thomas to write a letter to
mr. Oehlke in reference to lease on land for stock. Motion carried.
Motion by Ald. Addicks and seconder: by Ald. Thomas to check on Park
'Jane as to what can be done . b.otion carried.
Motion by Ald. Addicks and seconded by Ald. Mauk for City manager Mathis
to act as Municipal Judge until a new one c: n be appointed. All Ayes.
