04-13-1972 (City Council) Minutes 260 REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING APRIL 13, 1972 The City Council met in regular session, April 13, 1972, in City Hall at 7:30 PM. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Hackler. Present Mayor Hackler; Aldermen, Dodd, Addicks, Davis, and Christopher, City Manager Woodard, City Water Supt. Allen, Chief of Police Blanks, City Secy. Gallagher, Absent Ald. Thomas. The Election Canvass was held. There come on to be considered the returns of the election held on April 1, 1972, for the purpose of electing the here into named officials and its appearing from said returns duly and legally made that there were cast at said election 239 valid and legal votes. Each of the candidates in said election received the following votes: Mayor: C. W. Hackler 202 Aldermen: Earl Taylor 57 Jerry D. Christopher 164 R. C. Dodd 204 THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WYLIE, TEXAS: That election was duly called--that notice of said election was given in accordance with the law, and that C. W. Hackler was duly elected Mayor of the City of Wylie, Texas, and R. C. Dodd and Jerry D. Christopher were duly elected Councilmen for the City of Wylie, Texas. City Manager Woodard gave the Oath of Office to C. W. Hackler for Mayor and R. C. Dodd a • Jerry D. Christopher for Aldermen. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTEP THIS c `' 13th day of April, 1972. APPOINTMENTS: Chief of Police: O. C. Blanks City Secretary, Treasurer, Tax Assessor and Collector: Oneida Gallagher Water Supt. : W. A. Allen Director of NTMWD: C. Truett Smith Planning and Zoning: Mrs. John L. Bostic, Chairman, Charles Taylor, Frank McMillian, Charles P. Elledge, and Archie Murphree. Mayor Pro Tem: Ald. R. C. Dodd On the appointments, motion was made by Ald. Addicks and seconded by Ald. Davis. All Ayes. Motion by Ald. Davis and seconded by Aid. Christopher to present Ken Mauk with a dinner and a Plack for a job well done, at a date to be set later by Council. Unanimous Ayes. Motion by Ald. Dodd and seconded by Ald. Addicks to change the lengthof culd-e-sac in commercial or Industrial area. All Ayes. Motion by Aid. Dodd and seconded by Ald. Addicks to approve zoning and filing of plat drawn up by City Atty. All Ayes. Council ask for a meeting to be called with Electro Extraction Co. and Johnston Inc. in reference to waste for Sanitary Landfill. Motion by Ald. Dodd and seconded by Ald. Davis to pay the moving cost 7 for City Manager Woodard. Motion by Ald. Dodd and seconded by Ald. Davis to okay the high service pumping capacity and the elevated storage requirements for the City of LtIAL CONTINUED PAGE 2 Wylie as recommended by HD&R as soon as possible, and authorized City Manager Woodard to ask Financial advice from City Bondsman, Framk Medinach with First Southwest Company. Unanimous Ayes. The estimated cost for pumps, motors, controls, and installation is $24, 000.00. Annexation was discussed and motion by Ald. Dodd and seconded by Ald. Addicks to annex 1 mile roadway only on all roads leading out of City of Wylie. All Ayes. Employee Insurance Plan was discussed. Atty. advised Council that it was not legal for City to participate in Employees Ins. Plan. Motion by Ald. Davis and seconded by Aid. Dodd to approve the expenditures for the month of March. All Ayes. Motion by Ald. Davis and seconded by Ald. Dodd to approve the minutes of March 14, 1972, and March 28, 1972. All Ayes. The City Maps presented by HD&R were approved by Council subject to a few small corrections. Motion by Ald. Addicks and seconded by Ald. Dodd. All Ayes. Meeting adjourned at 9:30 PM. C. W.
