09-26-1972 (City Council) Minutes 272 REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING SEPTEMBER 26, 1972 The City Council met in regular session at City Hall September 26, 1972 at 7:30 PM. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Hackler. Present were Mayor Hackler, Aldermen Thomas, Dodd, Christopher, Davis, City Manager Woodard Water Supt. Allen, Joe Schiefer, Jessie Housewright, Bill Powers, John Pinkus, R. S. Morrison, and Fred Valenta(Johns-Manville Corp. ) , Vernon Cooksey. Absent John Addicks. City Mgr. read letter petitioning city to annex 50 acres of land belonging to John Pinkus to be used for Nortex Wholesale Nursery. Mayor Hackler called a Public Hearing on annexation on Oct. 10, 1972. Mr. Powers met with Council on Estate Planning Zone being added to city zoning ordinance. Council agreed to allow 22 ' asphalt streets on 50' right of way and to pay the difference in price between 8" and 6" A/C supply pipe- line from 544 to 100 acre tract of land. Mr. Powers is to install 6" A/C distribution line for fire protection. All on motion by Ald. Dodd and seconded by Ald. Thomas. Mr. Pinkus met with council on Agricultural Zoning for Nortex Nursery. Mr. Pinkus wanted assurance that his business would not be limited future changes in the zoning ordinances. Council stated that no guarantee could be given, but they could see no problem in that line. Mr. Valenta and Mr. Morrison informed the council as to the uses and benefits of PVC pipe in water and sewer systems. The council agreed that the major disadvantage at this time was the lack of fire protection approval on PVC. Further study will be needed before including PVC as approved apumbing fixtures. Mayor Hackler told the council of some complaints from businessmen as to the number of rats in the downtown area. It was agreed to contact the businesses as to a concentrated effort in poisoning of the rats. No futher business, meeting was adjourned at 10:00 PM. C. W. Hackler, Mayor )2j, Oneida Gallagher, City.
