REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING
MARCH 13, 1973
The City Council met in regular session in City Hall at 7:30 PM. Present
Mayor Hackler, Aldermen Dodd, Addicks, Thomas, Christopher and Davis:
City Manager Woodard, Water Supt. Allen and City Secy. Gallagher.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Hackler. Report from U. S.
Post Office on City Mail Delivery, Mr. Cantrell and Mr. Murphy, presented
their mail delivery program to City Council. Council ask to study it
further before they make a decision.
J. E. Gibson president of the baseball club met with Council to ask for
help for the club. Council on motion by Ald. Davis and seconded by Ald.
Addicks to invest $2000.00 in conjunction with school for City school
recreation. On the motion all Ayes.
Motion by Ald. Thomas and seconded by Ald. Addicks to appoint Lester
Gaylor, Jr. as Fire Marshall. All Ayes. Motion by Ald. Davis and
seconded by Ald. Addicks to appoint Chief Story and Jerry Christopher
on the Wylie Fire Committee. All Ayes. Zoning Board Chairman tabled.
Ordinance # 73-2. An ordinance providing that $3000.00 of the assessed
valuation of residence homesteads of all persons 65 years of age or older
be exempt from ad valorem taxes under certain conditions was approved
on motion by Ald. Dodd and seconded By Aid . Thomas. All Ayes.
Council on motion by Ald. Thomas and seconded by Ald. Addicks to have
Texas Appraisal Service, Garland, Texas, revaluate Real and Personal
property tax, at a cost of $6100.00 for the 1973 Taxes. Unanimous Ayes.
Council on motion by Ald. Thomas and seconded by Ald. Dodd appointed
Dan Moore, Pat Woodard and Helen Shively to serve on the Library Board.
All Ayes.
The minutes for February and also the monthly expenditures were approved
on motion by Aid. Dodd and seconded by Ald. Thomas. All Ayes.
W. A. Allen water supt. gave a report on the water, sewer and sanitation
departments. Motion by Ald. Thomas and seconded by Ald. Christopher
to ask for bids on a new packer bed for garbage truck. Motion carried.
Meeting adjourned at 10:00 PM.
