SPECIAL SESSION
SEPTEMBER 18, 1973
The City Council met in special session on Sept, 18, 1973, Present were
Mayor Cecil Hackler, Edward Butler, Dwayne Boyd, Jerry Christopher
City Councilment, and Dennis Woodard, City Manager. Don Thomas and
R. C. Dodd were absent.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Hackler, who stated the purpose
of the meeting was to discuss the proposed increase by General Telephone
and the impending law suit. After discussion of the cost of going to
court as opposed to approving the telephone rates, Edward Butler moved to
approved the Ordinance 73:15.setting forth the various telephone rates.
Dwayne Boyd seconded the motion and it passed three votes for and none
against.
Dwayne Boyd moved to adjourn at 8:40 PM and Jerry Christopher seconded
and the motion passed.

SPECIAL SESSION
OCTOBER 2, 1973
Special Council meeting of October 2, 1973. Present: C. W. Hackler,
Mayor; Councilmen R. C. Dodd, Edward Butler, and Dwayne Boyd; City
Mgr. Dennis Woodard; Water Supt. W. A. Allen.
The City Council met in special session to conduct a public hearing
concerning the paving of the 100 and 200 Blocks of Fifth Street,
500 and 600 blocks of Marble Street and the 500 block of Oak Street.
Mrs. Maudie Turner was the only citizen to respond at the meeting.
She voted against the paving . Letters were read from T. C. Frye,
Ed Smith, and T. M. Hughes, all voted for the paving. Since no
majority of residents were present, the Council voted to contact all
property owners in the area once more for their vote before abandoning
the paving program.
