01-08-1974 (City Council) Minutes �) C „., Regular City Council Meeting January 8, 1974 The City Council met in regular session at 7:00 PM on January 8, 1974 with the following people present, Cecil Hackler, Mayor; Ald. Dodd, Ald. Thomas, Ald. Butler, Ald. Christopher, City Manager Woodard, Fire Chief Story, Danny Clar, and Bob Roberts with General Telephone Company. The Council considered authorization of the City Manager' s signature on the city checks. After discussion it was moved by Ald. Thomas and seconded by Ald. Christopher to authorize the manager' s signature on checks in addition to the Mayor and Mayor-Protem' s signatures. Liability and Workmens Compensation insurance for the city was discussed. No action was taken until more information could be obtained on the Texas Municipal League plan to provide Workmens Compensation insurance. The Council authorized sending the City Manager to Austin to attend a meeting on the TML plan. Chief Story ask for and was granted permission to allow eighteen year olds to serve on the Fire Department. The Fire alarm telephone system is to be checked out for possible change over to dispatching by police dispatchers. Property belonging to the City is to be studied for possible use by the police and fire departments for office and storage space. The Council discussed the school crossing on Highway 78 and approved the purchase of flashing lights for the signs and other equipment to be used by the crossing guard. By motion made and seconded the minutes of previous meeting and expenditures for January were approved. Ald. Dodd presented a report on the Wylie Hospital and improvements needed to maintain medicare support. The Council expressed a desire to help and will look into the matter further. Ald. Dodd also presented information concerning the proposed school bond election and answered questions from other Council members. C. W. Hackler, Mayor
