02-11-1975 (City Council) Minutes cl (r 1 Regular City Council Meeting February 11, 1975 The City Council met in regular session on Beb. 11, 1975 at 7:00P.M. Present: Mayor Don Thomas; Aldermen R.C. Dodd, Ken Nall, Ed. Butler, ^' Dwayne Boyd and William Martin, City Manager Dennis Woodard and Police Chief O.C. Blanks. Alderman Nall moved to call the City Officers Election for April 5, 1975. William Martin seconded the motion and it passed. Three aldermen are to be elected. Dale Williamson from Lone Star Gas appeared before the Council to explain an increase in natural gas to be passed on by his company to the customers. This was being done by order of the Railroad Commission. By motion of the Alderman Nall and second by Alderman Dodd the Council opposed the increase until Lone Star Gas Company could present, to the City, figures on the amount of increase. Bob Roberts, representing General Telephone, met with the Council to discuss information concerning the telephone rate increase. Mayor Thomas requested additional information which would relate to the City seperated from the entire Wylie exchange and a schedule of rates for businesses and residential customers. Alderman Martin moved to call a public hearing on the increase on March 6, from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. Alderman Butler seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. The cost of construction for an addition to the police station and a building to house dogs caught by the dog catcher were presented. Both additions were approved by the Council. City Manager Woodard reported on meetings attended in Arlington and Austin concerning federal funds and proposed legislation. The Council approved resolutions authorizing the request for funds from The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and Community Detelopment funds. The Council requested a review of city ordinances regulating weeds and junk items, with any possible changes to be submitted at a future meeting. Strict enforcement of the existing ordinances was authorized after proper notices to those in violation.
