FEBRUARY 25, 1975
The City Council met in regular session on February 25, 1975, at 7:00
P.M. in the City Hall. Present: Mayor Don Thomas, Aldermen R.C. Dodd,
Ken Nall, Ed Butler, Dwayne Boyd, William Martin, and City Manager
Dennis Woodard.
Make Slingerland and Ross Miller presented information on plumbing
regulations within the city. The Council will review the Uniform
Plumbing Code and proposed amendments for adoption as the city code.
Ordinance 7 -2, regulating junk and abandoned vehicles on private
property was passed by motion of Alderman Martin and second by
Alderman Boyd.
Dale Williamson with Lone Star Gas Co. , submitted information re-
quested by the Council, concerning an increase in the cost of natural
gas. Me City Council will neither accept nor reject the increase
as the Railroad Commission of Texas has forced the increase upon the
City, without recourse.
The first quarter budget report for 1974-75 was reviewed. On all
accounts appeared to be at approximately 25%, the report was accept-
ed as presented.
A letter from Nortex Nursery stating a .needi:for additional water
pressure was read. The request was tabled for further study by
the city engineers.
Stan Rogers met with the Council to request water service to his
new office south on Highway 78. Mr. Rogers agreed to have his
property annexed into the city. It was agreed by the Council to
allow the request, provided a standard six inch water line was in-
stalled. No reply was given by Stan Rogers, but he indicated the
cost would be too high.
The City Manager was instructed to transfer the excess funds from
the 1974 Sewer Improvement Construction fund into the interest and
sinking fund for debt retirement of the related certificates of
obligation.
Due to the illness of the City Secretary, a request to allow
additional signatures on the city checks was made by the City
Manager. Alderman Boyd moved to grant the request. Motion
seconded by Alderman Nall and Passed.
